I have had this handset since last Christmas now and can honestly say it is the best purchase I have ever made. I am a bit of a geek and I am absolutely love how flexible the android OS is... The phone comes with HTC sense overlay and is pretty stunning, and in my opinion the best overlay for android. I would also recommend rooting your phone to gain complete control. But enough with the OS what about it's design.
Screen: This is its main feature its large size is great for media such as viewing videos or web browsing, however holding it in one hand make operations harder to perform and this should be taken into consideration for those with small hands. Quality wise it is beginning to get outclassed especially for Samsung's galaxy s 2 but nonetheless it is still great. Its brightness is quite dim however making the screen nigh on impossible to see outside.
Build quality: I believe the rear is made from aluminum and is nice to hold and for the most part it is great quality. However there are a couple of niggles. The first is that it takes a while to master how remove the battery compartment as the plastic is stiff. The second is that the volume button and power button are plastic and on my phone the plastic paint to make it look like aluminum is wearing off.
Battery: Not great and would recommend getting a spare battery or a portable charger.
Processor and Graphics: The 1 ghz processor is still snappy even with the emergence of dual core phones perhaps this will change in the future as apps become more demanding but for the most part it performs perfectly fine. The graphics card id also respectable and allows for some 3d gaming.
Camera: Pretty average the 8mp camera is pretty standard quality for a smartphone, it only performs well is well light rooms but for occasional snaps it should be fine. The dual LED flash is also adequate.
Call quality and external speaker: I have had no problems with the call quality perhaps it is a little quiet though. The external speaker is tinny compared to the likes of the Iphone 3g and disappointing if you like to play music out loud,
Should you get one: This depends on your budget and whether you want to be on the cutting edge of smartphones. It is a beautiful phone and has served me well these past months so if you can get a good deal I would say go for it but if the new dual core phones are only a bit more I would go for those instead such as the Samsung galaxy s 2 if you still want the large screen...
