I have this phone as a work phone and it substituted the i-mate I was initially given and subsquently broke. I am an avid Windows Mobile user and have been since the first iterations of the smart phone hit the consumer market. My have they come along way.
The Touch Diamond 2 looks great and works as it is supposed to. Turning on and setting up the phone's functions is easy to do, especially syncing with your outlook mail. The touch flo screen makes it a pleasure to use, although the absence of a QWERTY keyboard is a down side, especially if you have big fingers because you will always have to take the stylus out to hit the keys you want.

The Diamond 2 doesn't have any problems with multi tasking, there can sometimes be a slight delay but only if you are trying to do about 4 things at once online.
The way it stores your SMS's and e-mails as conversations takes some getting used to, but it's a life saver when you want to quickly look back over emails/sms's from clients or friends, especially when you need evidence to prove that your argument is correct!

battery cover, but overall, the smartphone has a solid construction and is a nice departure from the Nokia N95 and N96, especially with the addition of a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard.
Similar to the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the Nokia N97 has a resistive touch screen that measures 3.5 inches diagonally and shows off 16.7 million colors at a 640x360-pixel resolution. While clear and bright, it's not quite as sharp as the competitors, such as the HTCTouchDiamond2, and the built-in accelerometer has just a bit of a lag when switching from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa. The handset also features a proximity sensor so it will automatically turn off the display when you lift the smartphone to your ear for a phone call.
It's great to finally have a touch screen that can play up on all the capabilities of the N series, but we ...

Advantages: well designed, good touchscreen, good QWERTY keypad, improved sofware, good widescreen display Disadvantages: Expensive, no spec bump, no flash module, heavy
hasn't been, I don't really understand why, especially when you consider that HTC did upgrade the camera of the Pro2's sister model, the TouchDiamond2. But what baffled me the most was that HTC chose to remove the flash module? WHY?!
While the Pro2 is much lighter than the original, but it still weighs 175g with the battery, this is a huge improvement, but looking on the bright side, you won't loose it? you will definitly still know when its in your pocket.
While the Pro2 has benefited from software updates, it is not the same story with the hardware, which is almost identical to the original. While this is not a major issue, I would warn anyone who owns the original Touch Pro, looking to the Pro2 for a spec bump, this isn't the case.
Verdict
I liked -
The design is beautiful; I believe this is ...

Advantages: Wi-FI, Standout design, Dedicated graphics chip Disadvantages: Poor battery life, no 3.5mm jack, no memory card slot
Never before has Windows Mobile looked this sharp, nor has it been as feature-loaded. Gem-inspired design, VGA screen, GPS and a built-in accelerometer might just be enough to get WinMo fans exited but the HTCTouchDiamond reaches beyond. A usable 3 megapixel camera and the latest edition of the TouchFLO UI are running on the brand new 6.1 version of the Windows Mobile Professional OS. And all that is packed into a package that's as compact as they get.
It's rather hard to find a Windows mobile device to boast the same extras as the Diamond and be just as pocket-friendly. The compact size of the HTCTouchDiamond and the VGA screen are its best ammo in the market share war.
HTCTouchDiamond is equipped with a 2.8" 65K-color screen of VGA resolution. Riding on the immense pixel-to-inch ratio, the Diamond offers remarkable picture ...

Manufacturer's product description
When you first see and start exploring the HTC Touch Diamond2, you'll be struck by its brilliant looks and amazed by the intuitive controls. In today's world, a conversation can take many forms, from voice to text... but there's always a person on the other end. The HTC Touch Diamond2 arranges your conversations by people, not just by how you speak with them. When looking at your contacts, you now can see a history of your conversation in whatever form it took place. It doesn't matter if you get asked about a recent email while you are talking on the phone or if you're in a café reminiscing about a friend's recent text - all your interactions are neatly laid out for viewing and follow-up in a tree of communication with that person.
