Bargains. The very word is like music to my ears. Being a poorly student, value for money is always appreciated and therefore H & M is a must. A large H & M opened in a town nearby a couple of years ago and at that time I couldn't stand the place! The store was massive and airy and rails of clothes stretched as far as the eye could see... This may not sound bad but the harsh lights and abundance of clothes was too much to cope with!
But since then my view has changed somewhat. I can only cope with H & M when I have the patience to search every rail as I don't want to miss a potential bargain. I have to admit: some of the clothes are a bit peculiar with weird prints, but the majority of the clothing is functionable and stylish. The clothing is suitable for a wide age range as my local store has a whole floor devoted to childrens clothes, and the enormous ground floor is divided between ladies',maternity, and mens' clothing.
In the past I have found some fabulous clothes that were amazingly good value because not only was the material good quality but they were well made. I know what you're thinking: I'm lying? Nope- all true. I've also found that the skirts are the ideal length for me, which in itself is amazing- being vertically challenged and all. The prices are very reasonable, I've bought t-shirts for as little as £3.99 and I know my sister has bought jeans in H & M that are really well cut and a fraction of the usual cost. Inevitably each store has different stock so some shops have a better variety than others.
H & M also sells a wide selection of accessories and jewellery. I have bought some really nice items from here before, although some items are a bit tacky so choose wisely. My local store also has an extensive lingerie and swim wear section from which I've purchased things before, although a few items have fallen apart! Not good. A fairly new feature to H & M is a range of makeup although I have never tried the products (as you'd expect, the prices are low).
The childrens section is totally adorable and my nephew has some fantastic little outfits from there, although it is possible to find less expensive clothing. As with the adult sections, there are many different designs so it takes ages to look at everything, but you're bound to find a few gems along the way.
H & M usually use sizes such as small, medium, large etc and measurements ie. 34, 36, 38... I usually find what I want but as with all shops, your size won't necessarily be there (but more often than not you can find it). If you do want to try anything on- then be prepared for a long wait (take picnic chairs etc) because on a saturday morning you're going to be there a while. The changing rooms near where I live look similar to the hinged doors you see in old western movies and don't shut very well- but for the sake of a bargain it's worth it. Of course you then have to combat the long queues...
If you're prepared to sieve through piles of clothes and enjoy finding a bargain- this shop is for you. There's something for everyone, children, adults and pregnant women. I have never looked at the men's department but there will certainly be bargains there too.

Good op. I don't have a H&M near me yet but it is supposed to be taking over C&A, so thanks for your advice. Ali_smile

Good opinion. I love H&Ms but if you want some really good bargains in good quality clothes, try TK Maxx.
