I get into habits quite easily (meaning routines, not a nun’s getup) but can find some of them quite hard to break. The latest is that absolutely no trip to Blockbuster is complete without a tub of ice cream to bring home – I’ve been eating ice cream at cinemas for years of course, but this is something new.
Despite my quite well know obsession with chocolate itself, I cannot stand ice cream that claims to resemble the brown stuff – for me it’s a case of the real thing or not at all – so this limits the choice slightly. Add this to the fact that I really don’t like nuts, fruit, or weird flavors, and there aren’t many tubs left to choose from. Still, Cookies and Cream is one of those that my palate does deem acceptable, and so it came to pass (you can tell it’s almost Christmas) that Saturday night after work, I found myself with a rapidly increasing wet patch between my legs, holding the just bought tub in my lap as we drove home.
Häagen Dazs describe this flavour as “The smoothest, creamiest vanilla ice cream imaginable, with just a hint of naughtiness delivered by a dappling of dark cookie pieces.” I describe it as “yum” – it might lack details, but it’s concisely straight to the point.
Now cream’s dairy, right? And so’s milk. And unless I got utterly confused in GCSE Biology, that somehow relates to calcium. Which we need to stop Osteoporosis. Which I have a slightly increased risk of (we’re talking 0.001%) due to dancing and implant hormones. Which basically means that to stay healthy, I should eat as much of this as possible, right?
** Cookie Search **
The cookie content is listed as 5.5% this sounds – erm low? High? I’m really not sure. There could be more but the suspense caused by the lower percentage adds to your eating pleasure (how poncy does that sound??) You get to the last few mouthfuls and you can’t be sure there’re any bits left – there could be some hiding under those creamy pale layers, but then again there might not. You dig in gingerly and, relief!, there are some pieces floating about. ** Health Info **
Unsuitable for those on gluten free diets, this pot is fine for vegetarians, although not for vegans.
Per 100g Serving you get
Energy Kcal - 262
Protein - 4.6g
Carbohydrate - 22.6g
Fat - 17 g
17% fat may sound a lot, but the way I see it, if we’re sharing then my eating partner gets all the 17g of fat, and I make do with the fat content of a diet coke from my spoonfuls. Was told the other day that it doesn’t work like that though – damn!
** The Taste Test **
Ah, the most important bit. Haagen Dazs is niiiiiice. Cookies and Cream is really niiiiiice. It’s hard to explain – I’m a programmer not a writer - but there is an ethereal mix of silky vanilla ice cream hiding small but perfectly formed chunks of soft sweet cookie. If you let a helping linger for a moment in your mouth you can feel the vanilla seeping from the ice cream (that sounds gross, but I meant it in a nice way) and the cookie chunks soften even further, until all too sudden it all disappears down into your tummy. It’s a sweet ice cream, but that still doesn’t stop you eating so much. I think it took us two sessions, so eating it in quarter tub helpings if we had the same amount each – I prefer to think I only had a fraction of that but then I always am in denial.
** Price **
500ml tub = £3.99 at Blockbuster – that’s nearly 4 squid of my hard earned money, but it is worth it. Places like Tesco and Safeway often have BOGOF offers on, or at least BOGOHP (half price) so it's worth shopping around.
Let’s see - £4 is nearly an hour’s wage at work, or 399 paid reads on this place. Nuff said really. Get clicking and feed my addiction :-)
Advantages: Divine taste, Sweet cookie dough, Disadvantages: Not enough cookie dough, Sending me to an early grave!
One day I'm going to learn. One day. For the second night in a row I'm sat here typing this feeling very, very full indeed. And very sick. In fact, I feel that sick I don't think I'm ever goiong to eat again. And the cause of this? Haagen Dazs ice-cream!!! Ah yes, I can hear you thinking (if you can hear someone think!) I'm sure you all understand what's happened to me. I got a tub of Haagen Dazs out of the freezer with good intentions of only having ... ...freezer for another day. Only it didn't work out quite as I'd planned. One scoop led to another.... And another... And another. And before I knew it, the whole tub was gone. 500ml of ice-cream all gone, all in my stomach. And boy does it sit heavily down there! Tonights flavour of choice was Cookie Dough Chip ice-cream, which combines such wonderful things as Haagen Dazs Vanilla ice-cream, laced with generous chunks of cookie dough, and a few fudge ...

Advantages: Great Taste and Smell Disadvantages: Expensive, Fattening
I was feeling like a treat when I noticed that the Haagen Dazs ice-creams where on offer at my newsagent and I decided I wonder buy a couple. Anything to write a review, eh. So here’s what I thought of the first one, Choc Chip Cookie Dough.
Appearance
The tub is the standard red and bronwy bronze of all haagen dazs ice-creams. On the front in a big white cloud (possibly hinting at its heavenly taste?) is the words Haagen Dazs. Below this in white ... ...Choc Chip Cookie Dough. And below this is a picture of scoops of cookie dough withchunks of fudge in them. On the back is the usual nutritional information which for this tub is as follows;
Per 500ml Tub Calories – 1310 kcal
Protein - 23g
Carbohydrate – 113g
Fat – 85g
The only other thing on the back worth noting is that it says it contains 5% cookie dough, which to me seems very little. So basically it’s 95% vanilla ice-cream, grrrr if I’d ...

Advantages: Delightful and tasy Disadvantages: Expensive and fattening
I've always been a Ben & Jerry's fan, but the absence of Cookie Dough ice cream at my local ASDA store lead me to buy a tub of my favourite flavour from it's rival - Haagen Dazs.
I'll admit, I wasn't too happy with the decision, but I honestly can't be bothered to go to a different store just for a tub of ice cream. Anyway, I turned to my freezer earlier today and took out the tub of Haagen Dazs Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream and decided ... ...I ended up eating half the tub. Infact, that's a lie. I ended up eating the entire tub. Shameful.
500ML of ice cream now resides in my stomach. But what can I say? Put aside I've gained 100g of fat and taken in 1500 calories, it tasted great.
The combination of luxurious, rich and creamy vanilla ice cream, and nuggets of intense chocolate with generous, buttery cookie dough is a wonderful blend. The ice cream is extremely creamy, and melts delicately ...

Advantages: It tastes divine, the ice-cream and cookie dough go really well together Disadvantages: its expensive!and fattening!
If you are looking for ice-cream heaven then this is it. Although all Haagen Daz ice-cream has a repuation of being delicious, I have to say this is my definate favourite. And I must have tried nearly every one!!Not that I'm a pig!
Dont let the price or the calorie-content put you off. Although this ice cream is divine it is also extremely rich and I personally find it very difficult to eat in great quantities.
It is therefore great to just keep ... ...have a craving for something a bit naughty. A spoonful here and another there is a really good way to enjoy it. This way a 500ml tub will last you ages and justifies the price.
Personally I enjoy it best eaten by itself. With the cookie dough already in it you dont really need to eat it to accompany a gateaux etc. In fact I prefer to use a cheaper plain ice-cream if I am eating it with cake.
Look out for the Haagen Daz cafes, I love them! Especially ...

Advantages: Erm....Gorgeous, fills you up, makes you feel good Disadvantages: Expensive, fattening
I like ice cream....in fact i love it! And this ice cream is as good as it gets in my opinion.
I'm quite weak when it comes to sweet food such as cakes, biscuits, chocolate and of course ice cream. Haagen Dazs does nothing to help me kill my sweet tooth off....in fact this ice cream does quite the opposite, it incourages and tempts me from the freezer untill i can resist no longer! I'll tell you why: The ice cream (as in every Haagen Dazs product) ... ...satisfying. It is mostly made from cream (making it over 1000 calories)and therefore is divine. Moving on to the dough. Sorry...the cookie dough! The cookie bit is important as the dough is the same sort of mixture as a cake mixture but with.....(wait for it).... chocolate/fudge chips. Lovley. Only one problem however...not enough cookie dough but that doesnt bother me much because the ice cream more than makes up for it.
Ok so that is the ice cream. ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Haagen-Dazs Cookie Dough"
I was wandering around Sainsbury’s over the weekend, after a hard day’s mystery shopping, when I was irresistibly drawn to the ice cream section. In fact, I always am. Strange, that. Anyway, this time, I decided I wanted to try some new flavours, so I bought three tubs of Ben and Jerry’s, which I will share with you. Of course, I’ll only share my wisdom, not the ice cream itself, so put your tongue away!
My favourite ice cream is Haagen-DazsCookieDough so it was natural my first choice should be the Ben and Jerry’s version – Chocolate Chip CookieDough (or as Ciao have put 'coc chip' - but that sounds like another op altogether!).
I am not really impressed with B&J’s packaging, as it is basically cardboard, so quite flimsy and often leaks if it is not kept upright. You take the lid off ...
Advantages: It's Haagen-Dazs and it's ice cream! Disadvantages: A bit too bitter for me...
Well, I had been planning to write about my favourite ice cream – Haagen-DazsCookies and Dough, but when I went to the freezer to get my tub yesterday morning, the majority of it had been stolen, leaving me with barely a taste! So my fiancé kindly donated his tub of Haagen-Dazs Choc Choc Chip ice cream and it is this that I am going to review.
Haagen-Dazs makes beautiful ice cream. It contains fresh cream, so it always tastes lovely, rich and creamy. The Choc Choc Chip variety features 10% chocolate chips, chocolate liqueur and 3.5% cocoa – so it’s pretty chocolatey!
The ice cream is brown in colour, as you would expect, with a generous amount of chocolate chip pieces. Although the main part is quite tasty, the chocolate chip pieces are slightly bitter for my taste. I like the combination of textures, but overall ...
haagen's adiction...
I really recommend this producto to anyone who loves chocolate. If you just like chocolate, I'd say you'll like this one too, but you could also find this purity is a bit too high... Anyway, give it a chance, and don't say NO looking at the price of this product (the worst thing of this brand).
Finally, I'd like to say this haagen's got another diferents flavours, like HaagenDazsCookies and cream, HaagenDazs Creme caramel pecan, HaagenDazs Sorbet-chocolate, HaagenDazs Baileys ice cream, HaagenDazscookiedough, HaagenDazs vanilla caramel brownie, HaagenDazs Vanilla ice cream, HaagenDazs Banoffee caramel pie, HaagenDazs Choc choc chip ice cream, HaagenDazs ice cream dairy cookies and cream, HaagenDazs ice cream lemon cheesecake, HaagenDazs ice cream praline and cream and HaagenDazs strawberry ...
