Whizz the cat is my lovely furry friend but one of the things I don't like about owning a cat is cleaning up the litter tray. We have a litter tray in our utility room which is a great place for it as its basically a tray full of wee and poo and so to be able to hide it away is great although it does need frequent cleaning and I like to do it at least twice a day as I can't stand to see a dirty tray.
These days litter granules are really good and do absorb wee very well. You almost cannot tell that she's gone most of the time as the littler tray still smells nice and clean but the litter will clump as it gets wet so you know that the cat has gone. Whizz will also bury her poos when she has done one so you get these little clumps of poo with granules all over them. IN order to clean the tray out we have a litter scoop which in my opinion is essential. Sometimes if I forget to clean up there is just too much wee and poo in there and the best thing is to just tip all the litter in the bin and start again but this can be costly so if I remember to clean up frequently a scoop does just the job.We decided upon the pink coloured scoop as Whizz is a girl but you can buy it in blue too. The scoop is slightly scooped so when you push it into the litter you are able to pick up quite a bit and generally get everything in one go which is nice. The scoop is also quite large so you get a good amount up at a time. What I like about this scoop is that is goes up at the sides so the litter doesn't just fall off the edge of the scoop and onto the floor. This can be annoying if you then have to pick i tup off the floor but with this scoop it doesn't happen.
On the middle of the scoop there are lots of little holes in quite a fun bubble looking pattern. This is a great design as when you scoop up the poo and clumped wee the clean litter falls through the holes and back into the tray so you can use it again and the old dirty stuff stays in the scoop so you can then throw it away, the perfect way to clean up.This scoop is plastic so its very easy to clean. I generally just brush off the dust from the litter and if there is any dirt that gets on it I can just rinse it under the tap or give it a wipe with a disinfecting cloth. The scoop costs just £1.99 from Pets at Home and is a great tool to have when you have cats and litter trays.
