Aftermath is an all-new episode created by Valve that extends the Half-Life 2 single player adventure. The player reprises his role of Dr. Gordon Freeman who must immediately face the repercussions of his actions in City 17 and the Citadel. Freeman reconnects with Alyx Vance and her robot Dog as they continue their support of the resistance's battle against the Combine forces. The intense real-time gameplay delivered in Half-Life 2: Aftermath is made possible only by Source Valve's proprietary engine technology which has been enhanced with new rendering technology and advanced artificial intelligence to deliver new levels of graphics and character interaction.
highly rated first person shoot `em-up ever on the PC. There's no five year wait for a sequel this time, however, as the war against the Combine continues. The lowdown:Originally intended as a standard expansion pack entitled Aftermath, this is the first in a new series of episodic content for Half-Life 2, to be released far more frequently than normal expansions and which do not require the original game to play. This chapter focuses as much on the beautiful Alyx Vance and her robot bodyguard "Dog" as Gordon, and deals with the direct aftermath of the end of Half-Life 2, and the exodus from City 17. Graphically the game uses an enhanced version of the original graphic engine -- beefed up using the new high dynamic range (HDR) lighting technology from the Lost Coast technical demo. There are also two multiplayer games include in the package: one based on Half-Life 2 and the other on an enhanced version of the original Half-Life.Most exciting moment:Watching Alyx's pet Dog throwing cars and soldiers around like toys as they battle alongside you in one of the most graphically impressive environments ever seen in a PC game.Since you ask:Valve has already confirmed an Episode Two expansion for Half-Life 2, as well as similar episodic games for a sequel to 1998's SiN using the same graphics technology. The bottom line:The best FPS ever is back and looking and playing better than ever.Harrison Dent

Gordon's back Review ofHalf Life 2: Episode 2 (PC)by

Advantages: Great graphics, great story, great puzzles Disadvantages: a little short, not enough new weapons and monsters
I've been playing half life right back to the days of the original, and have brought and played through all the different varients of it. I'm not the greatest fan of First Person Shooters, but I've always enjoyed the Half-Life series. I think it's the great story, the overall intelligance, and that for once you're not playing a guns and muscle soldier, but a geeky scientist with glasses. Now, I'm not going to say that describes me, I don't think ... ...up all the traditions.
Half Life 2: Episode 2 is the second part of the Episodic Sequal to Half-Life 2. At the end of Episode 1, we left Gordon Freeman (the geeky scientist) and Alyx Vance having escaped City 17 by train, only for the train to crash right at the end. Episode 2 picks up just after this, and you're first job is to get yourself out of the tangled wreckage. From then, your main task is to make your way to a Missile site where Dr. Kliener ...

Advantages: Astounding value for money, Half-Life 2 is superb, diverse first person gameplay Disadvantages: Half-Life 2's graphics *slightly* dated, Team Fortress 2 - some lag from time to time
...Look inside The Orange Box...
The Orange Box is a rather ambiguous title for a game, giving very little clue as to the game's contents. If you have not heard of this game before, you might be surprised to find that it does not, to my knowledge, feature any actual orange boxes. What it does feature is an abundance of diverse quality content, spread over what is advertised as being five separate games for the normal retail price of a standard game. In fact, it is more like three and a half games, but this is more than enough to justify labelling The Orange Box the best deal in video game history. The first game is Half-Life2, released in 2004, and widely considered one of the greatest PC games of all time. The next two titles are the follow-up expansion episodes, numbers 1 and 2, which I would group together as being the second game...

Firstly the film was dire and a permanent stain on the whole Star Wars saga so what made the developers think they could do better? To be quite honest I haven't managed to find out and I don't think I ever will, the fact of the matter is that they have... more
