This summer I decided to get a VISA credit card because I was going on holiday and wasn't sure if my MasterCard would be of any use. After checking all deals on moneysupermarket.com I decided that the Halifax Classic would be great as it offered 10 months interest-free credit for balance transfers and purchases and 50 pounds cash-back if used 3 times within the first month. (This offer is no longer available.)
I applied on-line and was instantly accepted. My credit limit was shown straight away (it had been set around the middle of the limits of my other cards) so I knew what I had got. The credit agreement came through very speedily and I had my card in around 8 days or so of applying.
Using the card has presented no problems and setting up the Internet service proved very effortless- register on-line and a password comes through the post in a few days. Enter it on their website and you're up and running. The Internet service lets you make payments and balance transfers and you can view statements/current balance and request credit limit increases. They will also show you special offers available to cardholders. If you have any other Halifax accounts, which I do not, you also have access to them from here. This site is very easy to use and everything is easy to find.
Basic information: The APR is an uncompetitive 15.9%, but the interest-free period is very long. The call-centre waiting time has proven to be around 5 minutes. The staff there are very friendly and they try very hard to give you good service. You can set up a direct debit payment, a mandate for this comes with you welcome pack.
In closing I would say that I am very pleased with my card and I would recommend this card to anyone, because the running of the account is so easy on-line and the call-centre staff are very friendly. I have had no problems using the card abroad (sometimes this can be a problem nowadays) or at home. It seems to me that Halifax have created a very good package for this product and they have made the setting-up of the account hassle-free.

I have a Halifax card too, but I had a lot more problems than you with it. My application was accepted straight away, but it took a full three weeks and several phone calls to actually get it to me - and even then it wasn't with the card image I had selected. I have also had a problem with a couple of websites rejecting it, despite there being more than enough credit on it for the purchase I was making.

i reckon that the apr is still a bit high compared to other cards but if you get 10 months interest free then thats great!!
Advantages: no annual fee, chance to win motorsport prizes each month, 3.9% APR transfers Disadvantages: none, no points, no air miles. no cashback, geared towards MotorSport fans!!!
