I think it is wise to compare loans before you choose because there are so many out there!! I used financial comparison sites to help me, one I used was Which Way To Pay (www.whichwaytopay.com) , they have a really good breakdown system of each loan. Halifax were straigh to the point and I was happy with the no repayments for the first 3 months system as that was perfect for getting settled in my new flat! Advantages: Ok if your paying them in full each month and you don't ask for help. Disadvantages: They won't help you out if you having financial problems.
...a personal loan with the Halifax four years ago, for eleven thousand pounds we have paid without fail every month £275.
This year in December my husband lost his job, we started getting into financial difficulty and I went into our local branch to speak to them about our situation, as we were building our own house at the time, we had quite a lot of money in our account… but we knew that with no income and loads of money going out to pay bills this ... ...as lucky as us, the Halifax do not care about anything more than getting their money back no matter what! If your thinking of getting a personal loan from them DON’T go elsewhere read up about the banks before you go to them there are loads of forums about financial institutions read them, digest what these people are saying..… But take my word for it the Halifax do give you EXTRA… EXTRA GREIF! Also - the banks have only just been made to send people ...

Advantages: eliminates the idiot landlords Disadvantages: evicts the innocent tennants with nowhere to go - and they dont care either
my previous landlord had a halifax mortgage - but they obviously didnt ask the right questions and it was easy to lie to them as he did not get a buy-to-rent mortgage and i ended up getting turfed out only 8 weeks later - and it had taken 5 of those weeks to try to find out what had happened and find me a new home so i didnt become homeless.
they reposessed the property in the end.

they are easily deceived, but quick to point the finger if you ever miss a repayment.
i saved the cash for my deposit - then had to pay yet another deposit when ...

Altogether I was thoroughly disappointed with the service I received and the apathy shown by halifax staff, I can only assume that they are not targeted on submitted applications. ...

...waiting for 44.3 minutes on Halifax call waiting. I chose the 'close account' . Halifax give the message 'you are moving up the queue' every 30 seconds. I gave up & put the phone down My complaint is not so much the wait, but with Halifax's system not telling me the size of their queue. When you've squandered 41 minutes on what is for me a premium phone number, what do you do? Will you have to phone a second time to find they answer in 42 minutes? ... ...in a locked cupboard. Halifax allow their customer service staff no way to register any customer complaints or feedback on their computer screens and they have no one who they can transfer you to register a complaint. I was apparently permitted to invest 25p on a stamp and write my feedback to them. My suggestion is - when trying to speak to Halifax - always pick 'open' option for a savings or loan, never the 'close account' option. Or perhaps a ...

There is an account available through the Halifax now which is available to new AND existing current account customer's which comes with a bucket load of extras AND an extremely competitive interest rate of 6%!! Yes there is a monthly fee of £10, however the benefits one can receive amount to approximately £800 a year. Advantages: Handy to keep an eye on your account Disadvantages: none so far
After having problems with my previous bank, I decided to open an account with halifax, this was about five years ago.
The reason I chose Halifax
Well they were always advertised on tv and I needed a new account for my wages to be paid into, so I went in made an appointment and opened my current account, which did`nt take long and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Other services available at Halifax
Credit cards
Mortgages
Personnel loans
Savings and Investments
Insurance
Share Dealing
However I basically use my account as a savings account and dont have any Shares or Credit cards through Halifax.

with Barclays and they charged him almost double the percentage that I pay with Halifax. With loans Barclays is equally as greedy, and they have now got a credit card, where you can transfer all your loans to which starts as a discount rate of 6.9%. I pay less with my card after the 6 months discount.
Overall I must say, the only thing that kept me staying with Barclays is the fact that it is not worth changing my current account, because I wouldn't gain much by changing and I would probably miss the good service. ...
