I was attracted to the Halifax moneyback card by the thought of getting real money back instead of points for things that I didn't neccessarily want. Also, as I was transferring a balance from my Barclaycard, the introductory 3.9% APR on balance transfers was definately a deciding factor.
The application process was straight forward enough and the card arrived within a few days. Transferring my balance was very easy - a simple phone call had it done - and day to day queries about my balance, credit limit etc... were dealt with efficiently even though I had to wait in their queueing system a bit longer than I did with Barclaycard.
However, when I got my first bill the payment due date was a few days before my salary was paid so I wanted to get it changed to a few days the other side to avoid uneccasary charges. The customer service agent told me this was no problem and said it has been done.
The next bill arrived but the payment due date was the same as the previous months meaning that I incurred interest charges because I didn't pay it until after my salary arrived.
Another call assured me that it would be done by next month's bill and, being a reasonable type of guy, I accepted this and awaited the third months bill.
This arrived and, surprise, surprise, the payment due date had not been changed.
Another call and another the following month was dealt with politely and I was assured that it would happen next month. It didn't so I have now gone back to using my Barclaycard - a bit more expensive but at least the customer service people stand by their promises and get things done when they say they will.
My thanks to Halifax for the great interest rate which has allowed my to clear a balance of about £3000.00 with a total interest charge of about £30.00 but I shall not be using you card any more.
My experience with their credit card has also not helped my opinion of Halifax as a whole and I am in the process of moving all my banking to Barclays - but that's another write up......
Advantages: Fee-free, not internet based, long interest free period, Platinum card - extra benefits Disadvantages: None so far. Cash back rate now dropped to 0.25%
...recently succesfully applied for the Halifax Platinum moneyback card via an unsolicited form mailed to me. This offers:
1% moneyback
No annual fee
Paper statements
Long interest-free period - 59 days.
Compared to the Alliance & Leceister card, what I've really noticed is the length of the interest-free period - started using the card in the new year and I've only just paid it off - nearly 2 full months later! The card is offered in Visa and ... ...variaties. As a Visa Platinum card you get the standard Visa decreed benefits for Visa Gold card holders.
All told this card is perfect for people who always pay off their account in full (I have no idea what the interest rates are, as I'm one of these people).

Advantages: 1% hard cash back Disadvantages: 15.9% interest rate isn't the cheapest
...make a purchase then the Halifax Gold Card could be the one for you.
With an initial interest rate of 5.9% for balance transfers rising to 15.9% after 6 months it is still reasonably competitive while giving you more benefits than most. There is no annual fee and they offer a balance transfer facility so you can ditch some of the more expensive cards you have. I have previously had MBNA cards and I have found them to be poor, stitching me up for ... ...unfriendly as well.
The Halifax card can be either Visa or MasterCard although they seem to push the Visa card more heavily than the MasterCard. You do not seem to get bombarded with junk mail either.
The statements are very clear and as it is not an “on-line” card you actually get a hard copy for your records.
The cash back balance is shown on your statement every month in the form of points 10 points = £1
This is a card from a name ...

Advantages: Excellent value Disadvantages: Perhaps cannot pay up the bill over Halifax counter.
Halifax Cash Back card is the most competitive cash back card in the market at the moment after Egg cuts the cash back to 0.5%. This is an all around good card with no annual fee, good benefits and reasonable APR.
Also, their lending criteria is considerably more relax compared to other lenders so if one have difficulties gaining gold card/cash back card elsewhere, Halifax may be a good place to start. Especially when you are Halifax customer, they ... ...to the credit limit and Halifax gave me a raised to prevent me from running into trouble.
Their customer serive could be a bit difficult to get through at times but considering the benefits, I think it is worth it.
While they do not allow payment to the card to be made over Halifax counters, they allow Online debit card payment which is a feature I love.
Also, detailed transacion are provided online and are easy to be keep tracked of.

Advantages: Cashback on every purchase Disadvantages: APR is quite high
I have had my Halifax Cashback Visa card for around 18 months, and for me it is superb. I get 1% cashback on every purchase I make and this is credited back to my account once a year.
If like me you pay off your whole balance every month, then a cash back card is deffinately for you. I chose this card as I was not interested in getting air miles / other reward schemes, I wanted CASH.
I currently get 1% cash back, but I think this might have now ... ...think you can register with Halifax to view your account balance on line, however I would check with them.
There are however various other cards that offer cash back, and so there might be one better for you.
But in my opinion this is a very good card. ...

PROLOGUE
££££££££££
Even before I married the most lovable spendthrift in the world, I had realised that if our Bank balance should show something in Green, then I would have to manage the financial side of our Marriage.
I am one of those people that Bankers and Banks would love to hate:-- the complete Rate tart. I keep looking out for good and better deals regularly and try to read the small print as far as possible before committing. So this is what I found once upon a time:-The HalifaxMoneyback Current Account.
The Halifax\Moneyback Current Account is basically a current account+ Debit card which gives you cash back for using it.
If you are a person like me, who is wary of the Credit card ( simply because you are spending what you do not have, and so keeping...

Advantages: 1% Back on all debit card purchases, Free online service, some branches open til 8pm and on sundays! Disadvantages: None that I can think of
.... Basically, a percentage of what you spend is credited back to you at the end of each year. Now who uses a DEBIT card? Most of us probably too. Now imagine if you could get cash back points on your debit card purchases? Well now you can!!
The halifaxmoneyback account offers you a 1% on everything you spend with your moneyback card. It works exactly like you would expect a current account to. Cheque book, free online 24/7 telephone and internet service (which I might add is the easiest I have ever used)a Visa Debit card, regular statements, and some of the lowest bank charges I have seen.
I dont want to spend along time explaining the specific rates and charges, because thats not the specific point of this account. Lets just say they are highly competitive.

...would give my ex problems with his Halifax accounts too? No, his accounts are fine and he has assured me that he did go into the branch and ask for the account to be closed, and certainly at that time nobody wrote to me about it! I know they correspond with their current account customers more than once every three years, so how come this has happened now? She couldn't give any answers.
I have been a Halifax customer for many, many years. I have a moneyback current account, a web saver account, a regular saver (at 7% interest), an ISA and a personal loan. If they think they don't know my address then one of us has a problem!
Overall I have been happy enough with the service I have received from the Halifax, but this problem was not caused by me, they did nothing to sort it out and the staff I spoke to on the telephone helpdesk...
