Training is vital if you are to secure more business in order to grow the Halifax. It is no good spending money advertising your services and products when your staff are incapable of delivering the promises. Customer service is key to any successful business in the UK without which you have no customers. Services provided in the Halifax leave a lot to be desired for example did you know that if you change your ordinary pass book on the advice of a member of staff to a card account for ease of access to yor money (hole in the wall account)that should you let your account fall to around £30 you are unable to withdraw any money.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I think the review would be better placed in the buyer beware category as this really is the place to air our grumbles about a specific company or product. Let me know if you would like help moving it. Fionaxx

Sadly I found isboss's opinion too negative to be of any help at all.
I feel that the Halifax have come up with the best curent account rate, and surely as one of the bigger banks, they must be fairly competative.
I think it is sad if having found the service , promtness of service etc etc so poor that you didnt call back into the branch and have a word with someone.I am sure that they take customer service very highly as most business do these days, and would have tried to solve any query fairly.

Sorry about the f.h. rating but you say "too many disadvantages to mention" yet mention very few. As for the passbook/card based savings move, you can withdraw any cleared balance above £10 - not £30 as you suggest, and the interest rates on this type of account are considerably higher, machine withdrawals are free.
As to two weeks for a mortgage advisor this seems excessive - five weeks is quite normal for a further advance as it needs to be officially registered with Her Majesty's Land Registry - you don't say whether an additional valuation was required?
Advantages: having impaired credit I was surprised and elated when they gave me a mortgage through their subsidiary Birmingham Midshires Disadvantages: seemed to take forever to complete, but is now complete
