Halo 3 Review
Halo 3 was released in September 2007 with some enormous hype to live up to and it is still one of the best Xbox 360 games and one you must own if you have an Xbox! Halo is probably the most famous first person shooter series and as you may have guessed Halo 3 is the third in this excellent series.
The Campaign
The campaign has 10 different levels - all of which are quite good. The missions at the start are easier so you can get used to the game and gradually get harder through the game. There are 4 difficulty settings Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary. It is a lot easier completing the missions if you play split screen or you can play over Xbox Live and have fun completing them with your friends. The campaign however is quite short if you play on Normal difficulty however playing on Legendary on your own is almost impossible! You get achievements for completing the missions and a high one for finishing the campaign
on each difficulty setting apart from Normal.
Matchmaking
However the heart of this game is the multiplayer. Matchmaking allows you to fight it out with players from around the world in modes such as slayer, team slayer, capture the flag, king of the hill, oddball and many others and make every match a new experience and fun and exciting.
Forge
There is a new mode included for the first time on Halo 3 called Forge which is a map editor which is good whether just for mucking around or creating a map to play with your friends and there are some brilliant ones available.
Custom Games
The best maps are very original and one of my favourites is one called Jenga Tower which is like a version of the game Jenga but you have to try and knock your opponents of the tower by throwing and hitting allsorts up there! This mode puts no limit to the amount of fun to be had and each week some of the best get chosen as Bungie Favourites so you can download some good maps! File share lets people share their favourite maps, games, videos and screenshots and anyone can download them!
Maps and Downloadable Content
The maps included are really good and there are quite a lot. You can also download new maps online - some free and some map packs cost 800 points. Buying these also let you get more achievements making it quite easy to get a high gamerscore playing this great game! There are also lots of other downloadable Halo 3 items like premium themes and many more!
Weapons and Vehicles
In this there also some new weapons and vehicles including the Mongoose (a two seater quad bike) and the Chopper is a great vehicle too and has a gun and a big wheel to mow people down. The weapons are also varied and include things like the Spartan Laser which charges up but once fully charged if it hits you are dead! Another good weapon is the energy sword which is perfect for assassinations!
Films
Another new feature is that everything you do is temporarily recorded which means you can watch everything you have done and make them into videos and screenshots making this another really cool add-on to this already brilliant game!
Bungie.net
Bungie.net also works with Halo 3 and lets you download files, see your stats, what weapon is your favourite. It allows you to find the latest Halo news and much more and makes a perfect companion for Halo! (Read my review on it for more details!)
Graphics and Sound
The graphics are also quite good but are not the best on the Xbox 360 as it is a couple of years old now and newer games like Call of Duty have better graphics. The sound in the game is really good and at the menus is an orchestra and this is one of the best games for sound.
Replay Value
The game has plenty of replay value due to playing online against real people all over the world in different playlists, playing custom games and making new maps in forge, having lots of maps and letting you download more, playing the campaign on the different difficulty settings and finding the skulls in each level, trying out all the different weapons/vehicles and just mucking around and getting a high gamerscore make it fantastic for replay value.
Overall Halo 3 is a brilliant game and one that you should own if you have an Xbox 360! It is a perfect example of a good game.
Price
Halo 3 is now available for quite a cheap price and should be easily bought for about £15 - £20. I think I paid about £14 for it about six months ago and that is a steal for the amount of fun I have had playing it!

Advantages: So many features! Best Multiplayer ever. Great single player Disadvantages: Xbox Live really recommended. Graphics not as good as Gears of War.
