Both my children aged 9 years and 13 years have had great fun making Hama bead pictures for at least 4 years now. These beads would be suitable for school aged children however adults can have great fun too being creative !! This tub contains 10,000 coloured beads of primary colours. You would need to purchase a hama peg board to place the beads on to create the picture. These are available from any Hama bead stockist usually at a cost of aprox £1.50 upwards depending on shape and size of board. These boards are reusable over and over again ! Basically the art of making Hama bead pictures comprises of arranging the beads over the little pegs on the board to make a design or picture. In the past my children have made windmills, stars. lighthouses, flowers, people, animals etc..Putting the beads on the pegs can be a little fiddly but its amazing how children will sit and concentrate in order to see the finished project ! Once the beads are in place on the pegs a piece of ironing paper supplied with the boards is placed over the beads. An adult is then required to carefully iron over the paper in small circular movements. This seals the beads together by melting them together. The picture is then left to cool for a few minutes and then carefully peeled off the board. The finished item is a colourful picture which can be stuck on the wall or if thread is added can be turned into a mobile. You can also purchase Hama bead stands to make your picture freestanding . Kits are also available which contain board, beads and paper. This tub would be suitable for a child who already has boards available who wants a good selection of beads to be creative. Hama beads are certainly not a passing craze they are something your child will come back to time and time again !!
