save the arm ache
Review of Russell Hobbs 1128 by jools30

Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: none that I have found

I have only fairly recently become the owner of a hand mixer, having previously relied on a balloon whisk and arm power. However, I found I was doing lots of cooking which required whisking and though I would give my poor arm a break and treat myself to a mixer. So, why this model? The truth is that it was on special offer! I didn't really know what I was looking for, other than something that would whisk for me without making my arm drop off. What ...
...my kitchen. For a start, it looks good. Bright and shiny stainless steel. It has two sets of attachments, beaters and dough hooks. I will now confess to never having used the dough hooks. However, the beaters are used on numerous occasions and are excellent for whipping cream, making meringue and various other tasks (I used them to make a cheesecake today). The beater has 5 speed setings so you can start off on a low setting and gradually build ... Read review

Versatile and Durable - A Solid Mid-Range Mixer
Review of Breville SHM2 by GMacleod

Advantages: Durability, Versatility, Price
Disadvantages: Size - A Tall Appliance that is Difficult to Store in a London Kitchen

My husband and I received this mixer as a wedding gift, and we are very pleased with it. Noting the price above, we consider it to be good value for money, and the versatility of having the mixer removable from the base is a great advantage over single-unit mixers. We also liked that it comes with three sets of beaters (standard, dough hook and whisk). Features include a variable speed bowl spin, variable speed beating, and tilt of the mixer itself. ...
...very tall appliance, and if you have limited counter space or low cabinets, you may find storage to be a problem. Accompanying the appliance and beaters are a spatula, and a user manual containing the standard information on how to care for the mixer, and recipes. We've now used it for a wide range of recipes, and it has never disappointed. ... Read review

A handy bouncing hand mixer
Review of Dualit 88405 Black HAND Mixer / SOFT Touch by Miskah

Advantages: Powerful, lightweight, easy to use, fees great and convenient to store.
Disadvantages: doesn't have a stand or bowl

I’ve owned this Dualit hand mixer for quite a bit. It may not be the most expensive or have the most attachments but it does what I need and has a couple of neat tricks. I have this neat black one but Dualit offer several other colours including chrome, ice blue, cream and red For those who don’t know much about Dualit they are a British company who make catering products for both the domestic and commercial markets. There products aren’t cheap ...
...the Friday afternoon rush. Dualit Hand Mixer- Soft Touch- Black ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Dualit 88405 is a very good looking machine in my opinion, this model is finished in a rubberised matt black and has Dualit embossed on the front and sides. The handle is well designed so is extremely comfortable to hold. The soft touch matt finish feels lovely and doesn’t encourage sweating of the palms so your grip remains good no matter how ... Me & My Mixer
Review of Sabichi 83906 by JunePixie

Advantages: Fluffy and tasty homemade stuff
Disadvantages: Minor niggles on speed of beaters

...therefore when I saw the Sabichi priced at £7.99 in my local Wilkinson’s store I couldn’t say no. I’ve had this little gem around 2 months now and can honestly confess to loving it. For a mere £7.99 you get what is pretty standard for most mixers of this specification; 5 speed settings and a turbo button which whizzes your ingredients around at an amazingly high speed, however don’t be tempted to start on a high speed or you’ll see your carefully ...
...chrome is nice but the Sabichi has the classic white plastic look that works well with my kitchen, plus the fact I always store my mixer in the cupboard and I never have an audience when baking so the colour or material is irrelevant to my needs. To clean the mixer is straightforward, just eject the beaters, I tend to do this into the sink, then give the mixer a quick wipe down with a damp cloth to get rid of any mixture which may have splashed ... Advantages: Cost...
Disadvantages: Durablilty..Lifespan...

...worth it. Go for a more expensive model. Treat yourself! A friend of mine went for the Dualit Hand Mixer and has NEVER looked back. I've learned a lesson anyway..Stay Away From Argos Cookworks Products, they're all of a similar quality..And no doubt will all have a similar life span! ... Read review
