I am a big fan off the Hannibal Lectar series of books, I was told not to bother with this one as it is nothing compared to the others but I disagree I think this book is very good, you get to see more of Hannibal's life in this story and how he started his new one away from the FBI after having plastic surgery and a change of identity but one man is determined to find him and have his revenge.

Hannibal is the third book in the series coming after silence of the lambs, here we see that even though he has gone into hiding he still likes to contact Clarice starling who he has always had a soft spot for. He contacts her through many alias address as he does not want to be found.

In this book we get to see more of Hannibal's life some past and also present. we meet the poor Mr Mason Verger and his rather large muscular sister. Verger had a run in with Hannibal years before and ended up with his face and more eaten away. Now he is bed ridden and surrounded my machines and a computer system helping him to survive, he needs constant care.
Now Mason is a very wealthy and revenge hungry man and will go to any length to get back at Hannibal no matter what the cost may be. He formulates a plan and hires people to train wild pigs(hogs) to eat a humans flesh, the idea is to find Hannibal capture him and have him eaten alive and Mason is planning to watch all of this. That will be his revenge.

The FBI are also looking for Hannibal using dear Clarice as bait for Hannibal. But it seems to be Mason who is making more progress and getting results.

Whilst all this is happening we get to see into Hannibal's new life and how he got there.

When Masons people find Hannibal they put the plan into action but Clarice gets in the way and they loose Hannibal, Mason is furious and decides that Clarice can have Hannibal's punishment first. so as they start to put Clarice to death by hog something happens to shock them all, Hannibal sores in to save Clarice and Mason falls to his death with the hogs.

Now here is were we have a strange and rather unecspected twist. Hannibal take Clarice away and nurses her back to health, when she is in some state of good health Hannibal make her a romantic meal one that she will never forget.......

I will not tell you the ending as i would not want to spoil it for anyone. What i will say is this is a very good book that any Hannibal fan will enjoy. I would recommend it to anyone.
