Introduction A relative newcomer to the Electronic's market hanns.h is part of the panel manufacturer, Hannstar Corporation and makes a range of low-cost Liquid Crystal Display monitors. I had previously owned two months ago a nineteen inch Clear Resolution Technology screen which caused me some eye strain and wanted to upgrade to a more modern Liquid Crystal Display screen. Company Background hanns h are a taiwanese monitor manufacturer. The company website hannstarr.com states they started business back in nineteen ninety eight in manufacturing and designing Liquid Crystal Display Monitor's ... more

Advantages Advantages Inexpensive. Stylish, widescreen, compact on desktop

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Fiddly on/off switch

THE STORY We moved house and when I unpacked my monitor it looked fine, when I plugged it in and set the computer up it didn't work properly. Googled the problem and the techguy came up with the answer when the symptoms were explained: it's ****ed. Having spent so much time hassling BT to get the broadband set up, being without due to lack of monitor was going to be a big problem, so I set off in search of a cheap (I'd just moved house remember) flat panel monitor with short delivery time. Some in-depth kelkoo-ing came up with this baby for £89.99 plus vat at Misco. It's 19 inch widescreen, so ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, WXGA+ resolution, good value-for-money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Tinny speakers

The Hanns-G HW191D is a silver and black plastic cased 19inch LCD flat-panel monitor, sold for around £90 to £110 from several on-line outlets. On the face of it, it looks like a pretty standard budget monitor with the usual DVI/DSUB-15(VGA) connections and some internal speakers, but it is solidly manufactured and sports a 1440x900 WXGA+ resolution where many of the alternatives in the price-band often only go as high as 1366x768 (WXGA). As I build PC systems for friends and family, I've purchased several of these over the last few years and never had anything except good reports of them - no ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick response, good contrast ratio, looks good

Disadvantages Disadvantages Speakers a joke, buy your own cable and no height adjust on stand

I have owned this monitor for about a year now and I am not disappointed in its performance. Indeed it would be safe to say it has never missed a beat. No dead pixels upon unpacking was a relief as you can never be sure when a display is this cheap. I thought they would have to scrimp in places to allow this specification for this price. And indeed they have. But in a clever way as it shouldn't effect the user in any way. I speak of the inbuilt speakers and that no DVI cable is included. As to the speakers I don't personally know of a user that uses their monitors speakers. Far better sound ... more

Advantages Advantages Good visuals, inbuilt speakers

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tinny sound, slight confusion at set-up

I got this monitor free with a computer package deal from RL Supplies. I paid £10 for one day delivery and it came right on time. The man I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and friendly, so I would definitely order from RLSupplies again. Since the screen came as part of a package deal I can't really put a price on it, but I can however say it was very good value for money. I mainly use my computer for websurfing, including games which can require quite high resolution and picture quality. The screen is absolutely fine running these. The colours are vibrant, the edges are solid and easily ... more
