THE STORY We moved house and when I unpacked my monitor it looked fine, when I plugged it in and set the computer up it didn't work properly. Googled the problem and the techguy came up with the answer when the symptoms were explained: it's ****ed. The Hanns-G HW191D is a silver and black plastic cased 19inch LCD flat-panel monitor, sold for around £90 to £110 from several on-line outlets. On the face of it, it looks like a pretty standard budget monitor with the usual DVI/DSUB-15(VGA) connections and some internal speakers, but it is solidly manufactured and sports a 1440x900 WXGA+ resolution where many of the alternatives in the price-band often only go as high as 1366x768 (WXGA). I have owned this monitor for about a year now and I am not disappointed in its performance. Indeed it would be safe to say it has never missed a beat. No dead pixels upon unpacking was a relief as you can never be sure when a display is this cheap. I thought they would have to scrimp in places to allow this specification for this price. And indeed they have. But in a clever way as it shouldn't effect the user in any way. I speak of the inbuilt speakers and that no DVI cable is included. I got this monitor free with a computer package deal from RL Supplies. I paid £10 for one day delivery and it came right on time. The man I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and friendly, so I would definitely order from RLSupplies again. Since the screen came as part of a package deal I can't really put a price on it, but I can however say it was very good value for money. I mainly use my computer for websurfing, including games which can require quite high resolution and picture quality. The screen is absolutely fine running these.
