**Experience:** I've had this monitor for 3 years and it's served me well, especially considering the amount of time it's turned on (over 6000 hours at a rough estimate, with 6 hours a day average usage).
**Specifications:** Capable of running at a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 at 60 Hz, but I am currently running it at 1280x960 (you want to run at a resolution which gives you an aspect ratio of 1.333 (recurring) so that images and text aren't stretched - in case you don't know: 1280 divided by 1024 = 1.25 (results in a stretched image) whereas 1280 / 960 = 1.333 (correct; the same as other standard resolutions such as 800x600 and 1024x768) and this allows 70 Hz refresh rate (anything below about 70 can begin to show annoying flicker, ESPECIALLY on a big monitor). However, the display isn't that sharp above 1024x768 and I think it'd be fair to say that while this monitor is perfectly usable at higher resolutions, its intended usage is 1024x768 (but I do like lots of windows visible so I put up with the higher resolution).
**Features:** I suppose the features are fairly standard in terms of the adjustments that can be made to the display (colour temperature, sizing, rotation, etc) which are done via quite neat little controls on the front and indicated on the On-Screen-Display (OSD). With a little fine-tuning you can set up the display as you like.
**Annoyances:** I already said this monitor could be somewhat blurry. Probably due to the extent of use of this monitor and a few long distance car rides, it has begun to show the odd flicker once or twice a day. I found this monitor to be rather dark (especially in games, but also a problem for digital photos, etc) and tried tweaking the settings for my graphics card gamma / brightness to fix this. I also use a freeware program called QuickGamma ( http://www.quickgamma.de/indexen.html ) to help get the brightness just right (make sure you read its help file for instructions, as it is confusing otherwise) - it runs each time the computer starts to apply the changes, but then exits so it consumes no resources.
**Support:** When I bought my monitor, hansol were offering a good warranty and replacement scheme. It's well worth comparing the warranties on monitors as they vary a lot. Especially check if the monitor will be collected at no cost to yourself (monitors are heavy and will therefore cost a lot to send back!).
**Conclusion** If you want a cheap 17-inch monitor to run at 1024x768 then this (or the Hansol 730E) should do nicely. However, Hansol also do a "Professional" line of monitors that shouldn't cost that much more (about £20 extra) and support up to 1600x1200 (though I'm not sure who would want this for a 17 inch monitor other than maybe for games), better refresh rate and I think are also flat instead of curved. If you use your computer quite a lot, it's definitely worth the extra bit of money to get the higher specified monitor (Hansol 720P).
Advantages: price-performance Disadvantages: no driver CD
...But there is a standard Hansol driver in Windows 98, which means the installation works without and the newest driver is fast downloadable from the net. But this little problem doesn´t harm the fun at all.
For the Onscreen-Display with the adjustements for contrast, brightness, centering the picture etc. you need a little habituation but it´s understandable. Cool Monitor which shows that 17´-monitors with low radiation doesn´t have to be expensive. ...

Advantages: Good value for money Disadvantages: Too deep
...well equiped Peripheral.
The Hansol 710A has a fast array of screen changing functions, this includes vertical and horizontal positioning, scaling (both horizontally and veritally geometry (pincushion, parallelogram, trapezoid, pin balance and rotation) Moire control, multiple language controls(English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese) color control, temp obseration, degauss fucntion, recall and zoom (all easily selectable via the monitors ... ...positioned anywhere on screen). The monitor is a Plug and Play device, so it therefore simple to install, with XP i needed to install no drivers. Also, the brightness and contrast can be quickly and easily changed via the front buttons. Having owned the Monitor for 2 years, i have had no problems with it thus far, although what seems to be appearing on the screen now is horizontal lines across the whole screen when black images appear at any point. ...

Advantages: Good dot pitch Disadvantages: Awkward to get drivers from site
I bought my Hansol monitor in March. I bought it because it was very reasonably priced compared to others with the same spec. I have once had to send my monitor back to them as it stopped remembering my screen settings. Had a very quick response. Got a brand new monitor sent out the next day which has had no problems. Very simple to use monitor and very stylish. I wanted to get drivers from Hansol.com but I couldn't! I telephoned them up and was ...

Advantages: Good Quality Reasonable priced Moniter Disadvantages: Is very deep, not suitable for small spaces
An Excellent simple moniter, that is 17 inch format gives a good size screen for all apllications.
It is easy to use with 5 simple buttons on the front, one simple for on off apllication the other buttons are for selecting the screen set up. One which activates the menu options 2 for moving forward and backwards through those options and the final button for activating the choicen option, These all alow you to move the screen, change the size and ... ...2 leads from the rear one for the processor the other plugs straight into a socket mean you will require two sockets a small inconvinence.
I have had this moniter now for 2 and a half years and never had any problems with it, turning it on several times a day, and also leaving it on for several hours with no screen print left on the moniter to date.
I would recomend it to any future buyers ...

help in deciding whether or not to buy a piece of kit it's seriosuly annoying.
I set a budget of £200 for my new monitor, and then started the onerous task of trawling the internet, looking at various models within my price limit on various sites such as buy.com, jungle.co.uk, insight.com and dabs.com (I found these to be the best ones). It took almost a week to narrow the search down to a few models, but I eventually picked the Hansol710P from the vast selection on offer.
As far as the particular site that I bought it from, there wasn’t much to choose between jungle.com and dabs.com for price in the end. I picked dabs.com as they were slightly cheaper (at £159.79) and had the quickest delivery time (so they claimed anyway). The nearest comparative monitor I could find to the 710P was a full £35 more for a similar specification ...

Advantages: Excellent Price, Good Quality Disadvantages: None
After you have used a 17" monitor, either at work or a friends or whatever its very difficult going back to a smaller 14" or 15" one. I am very interested in design work and I had to get at least a 17" monitor at the very least. After looking around the usual stores I noticed that my local independent store were selling a "Viewpoint" monitor for £169.00 and I decided to go for it.
When I opened the box I had a couple of surprises. Firstly the power lead that came with the monitor was a 2 pin US style one (dodgy import?) the second surprise was that the monitor was a re-badged Hansol model. I could tell this from the grill pattern, it was exactly the same as my old 14" Hansol, The guy in the shop confirmed this, I was quite happy because the 14" unit was very good quality and very reliable.
The monitor is excellent, good build ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: somewhat helpful Review of Hansol 710 D
Advantages: cheap & cheerful Disadvantages: 1600x1200 possible but not practical
I bought my first 710D because it was cheap (£150 from ebuyer.com) for a 17" flat-screen monitor supporting 1600x1200 at 75Hz. When it arrived, I was impressed- nice and bright, with a stable picture.
However, the picture looked a bit skewed. No problem I thought- just use the rotation control. But this didn't really help, and I realised that the problem appeared to be that the tube was not square within the frame. So you could rotate the picture so that it was square relative to the frame, or square relative to the tube, but not both.
This was an obvious fault, so I got in touch with Brands Electronics, who deal with Hansol warranty issues. That's when the fun started.
Brands agreed to do a straight replace-with-new, and a few days later my wife rang me at work to say the replacement had arrived. However, when I got home, I ...
