I have owned this monitor for three years now, which, back then was towards the top of the market rather than towards the bottom, like it is at the moment. However do not underestimate this monitor! It is surprisingly sturdy, having faced much transportation over the years and bashings from myself and my younger brother.
The one disadvantage is the refresh rate. At 1280x1024, the refresh rate is only 75Hz, which when looking at word for some time can drive you a bit mad! The write ups say that the monitor can only go to 1280x1024 but with a good graphics card, such as my current one which is a ATI Radeon 9600™ 256DDR, the display can go to 1600x1200 @ 60Hz. Also with my graphics card, 2048x1600 can be reached although the funny thing is that the fonts and icons do not go really small, but the desktop goes larger than the screen, so for example, when a screen is maximised, to view the exit button, you have to move up the screen using the mouse. It does get annoying, but if you are working on a project it is quite nice to position different documents around the screen.
Another thing I have noticed with this monitor is the smell it gives off. I thought when I bought it back in the day, the smell would disappear, but it hasn’t. It doesn’t bother me much, but it does give off a slight unpleasant smell, although I know that all monitors do.
The installation is very simple and the buttons on the monitor are very easy to use….anyone could figure them out.
In conclusion, at £150 off the internet, it is well worth getting (if you have enough desk space) for a 19” monitor (which is lovely although I would want more now) is definitely worth it. It is durable and if anything does go wrong – Hansol has a 3 year guarantee, so no worries there! Enjoy!
