Review of Iomega UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive Hard drive 1 TB by thewhitewolf

Advantages: So much SPACE!
Disadvantages: none

This is a safe solid bet for a hard drive that won't let you down. In testing it performed well and did not overheat or become slow due to the rate of transfer. Design The portable hard drive comes in an attractive silver case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It's about 20 cms long and 10 in depth and weighs a fair bit. It is a desktop drive and can't really be moved around due to its size. Installation The instructions were easy to follow ...
...plugged it in, so within 20 minutes i was backing up my files. Performance Performance is good for a portable hard disk, and there was no real difference in speed between the two interfaces. Features It ships with backup software, like Firewall 800 which makes it easier to use. A two-plug USB splitter cable and a six-pin FireWire cable are included so you shouldn't need to use an external power adaptor. The bundled Retrospect Express utility can ... Read review

Review of HP Universal Hard Drive Hard drive 146.8 GB by andycharger

Advantages: Great reliability. Good storage. Quick to install
Disadvantages: Power hungry

When you need large disk capacity, bulletproof performance and reliability in your servers, you cant really go wrong with the Hewlett Packard Ultra320 146.bGb Scsi hard drives. When you are running RAID5 on a server and need lots of disks to add to the array, these meaty old disk are a surefire winner every time. Whats more they are in the standard 3.5 inch size and can fit in almost all server applications that require Ultra320 disks. We have ...

The have an easy access and hot swap caddy to contain them which makes swapping the drives much easier should you need to as well as the initial install. Installation. You cannot get simpler. Open the box. Slide the Hard drive into the allocated bay in your server until you feel the connections click into position. Push the hot swap lever closed on the fron to lock the drive into the array. Done! ... Read review

Seagate 7200RPM SATA 300 Hard Drive
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB by TheTechGuy0

Advantages: Fast with large files, quiet fast with small files, quiet, doesn't struggle with large files.
Disadvantages: May need defragging alot.

I have this drive pre installed in my computer and the first thing i realised was that it was extremely FAST; i had tested the drive on a hard drive benchmarking program called 'HDTach'. This is as on my HP'm7635', using this drive i got a burst speed of 210 MB/s and a average read rate of 70MB/s; both are extremely fast. I also realised that this drive was extremely quiet; being installed in my media cennter PC it wasn't exactly a suprise though. ...
...the context of everyday computng this hard drive is very fast, windows loads up very quickly. You can force large files down the hard drive and it wont struggle; though i still recommend that you defragmentate the drive on a regular basis for optimal speed. To expand on my statement of what fast is, i mean to say that the drive is able to handle copying of large files such as movies very quickly. The drive is also fast in seeking files from a random ... Review of Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini 120 GB by buckyohare

Advantages: 120GB, Good price, Extremely easy to use.
Disadvantages: Takes up 2 USB slots.

...drive also comes with some Maxtor software designed to ease back-up and synching of data. For this purpose I would recommend just downloading Microsoft's SynchToy which is available as a free download and in my opinion is more powerful and easier to use than the software that comes with the drive. Another useful feature of the included software is the ability to encrypt and password-protect the data on the drive. I would definitely recommend this ... Read review
