Giant Lego Brick
Review of LaCie Brick Desktop Hard Drive 500 GB by mr_mlk

Advantages: Looks ace
Disadvantages: Large PSU, Noisy

Overview This device just looks great; every geek desk should be littered with oversized Lego bricks, but the premium price tag, loud disk drive and large power supply are enough to put off all but the hardened geeks better half. The Looks Pure Geek love, the shiny red plastic with its six large Lego dimples would take a prime location on any ones desk. Its front face has just a single red light glowing under the shiny plastic. The sides are plain ...
...barely noticeable when the device is facing you but stick out when it is sideward. The back has USB & power in and a power button. The Power Block The external power supply is almost half the size as the device. Sure, it lives under your desk where none sees it, but the thing is huge and heats up. Great for putting you feet on during a cold winter night, not so good for the rest of the year. Whirl It is quite loud, almost as loud as my Laptop, ... Read review

Massive storage for all those digital photos
Review of Maxtor OneTouch III USB 2.0 750 GB by x-tech-x

Advantages: very easy to use and set up
Disadvantages: you may eventually fill its massive 750GB but it will take some doing !

...was getting full. Well the Maxtor One Touch III was the answer. I transferred all my photo files to it and found that there was more that enough space and plenty more to go at. One other big advantage is that if I upgrade my PC I can just attach the Maxtor external hard drive and carry on as normal, no need to try and transfer all my files not easy when there are so many. I went for a large capacity and of course it was more expensive but in the ... Read review

Look at my Little ones
Review of HP Dual Port Hard drive 146 GB by andycharger

Advantages: Smaller, less power hungry
Disadvantages: None

...specifically for the G5 model HP Proliant serversso you cannot port them across to other types of servers. Therefore you only really should purchase these drives if you own servers in that range. Reliability. Bullet proof as with the other forms of SCSI drive. The new technology seems to be working well and not suffering any setbacks in performance or operations. Price. Better than the largre drives and can be picked up for around £250. I think ... Read review

Seagate 7200RPM SATA 300 Hard Drive
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB by TheTechGuy0

Advantages: Fast with large files, quiet fast with small files, quiet, doesn't struggle with large files.
Disadvantages: May need defragging alot.

I have this drive pre installed in my computer and the first thing i realised was that it was extremely FAST; i had tested the drive on a hard drive benchmarking program called 'HDTach'. This is as on my HP'm7635', using this drive i got a burst speed of 210 MB/s and a average read rate of 70MB/s; both are extremely fast. I also realised that this drive was extremely quiet; being installed in my media cennter PC it wasn't exactly a suprise though. ...
...the context of everyday computng this hard drive is very fast, windows loads up very quickly. You can force large files down the hard drive and it wont struggle; though i still recommend that you defragmentate the drive on a regular basis for optimal speed. To expand on my statement of what fast is, i mean to say that the drive is able to handle copying of large files such as movies very quickly. The drive is also fast in seeking files from a random ... Review of Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini 120 GB by buckyohare

Advantages: 120GB, Good price, Extremely easy to use.
Disadvantages: Takes up 2 USB slots.

...drive also comes with some Maxtor software designed to ease back-up and synching of data. For this purpose I would recommend just downloading Microsoft's SynchToy which is available as a free download and in my opinion is more powerful and easier to use than the software that comes with the drive. Another useful feature of the included software is the ability to encrypt and password-protect the data on the drive. I would definitely recommend this ... Read review
