A big box of data outside of my PC
Review of Buffalo DriveStation HD-HC500IU2 500 GB by AJRAD

Advantages: fast, high capacity, looks good, reliable, easy to use
Disadvantages: it makes my other drives look bad

There comes a time when you need to get an external hard drive, after all there is a limit to how many internal ones you can attach to a motherboard (varies, normally about 3). I personally use a lot of drive space, going into the terabytes, so every now and then I have to attach a new external HD. This time I bought this one, and I am quite happy with it. An important feature that the DriveStation fulfills is that it looks nice. Its more important ...
...impressions - and the first impression I got from this was professional and ruthlessly efficient. The 500GB is generous considering it only cost me £100 or so, which is pretty damn good for external drives. 500GB will last me a good couple of months, then I reckon I will go and buy myself another of these beasts, my computer area will look like an industrial server zone! I did actually buy this drive expecting to have to install some software and ... Read review

its called turbo for a reason!
Review of Buffalo MiniStation TurboUSB HD-PS120U2 120 GB by techno_man_37

Advantages: fast and portable
Disadvantages: drains power

The Buffalo Ministation Turbo USB 120GB is quite a small little storage device, hence the “ministation” in its name. Its size is great as its only 127 x 20 x 84 mm so it’ll hardly make a dent in your pocket. The 190 g weight on its also hardly anything and they have even managed to shed 20 g’s off this one compared to the previous 40 gb edition of this hard drive. It works directly off power from a laptop or computer and ...
...in another power cable to run the device. This can be a problem if you need more battery life on your laptop as it will drain it a little if its plugged in all the time. This drain isn’t much though and you’ll hardly even notice the difference if its only plugged in for a short while. Its black plastic casing certainly looks the part however does feel a little flimsy. It has been built with shock absorbency built into it so you wont ... Read review

Need An External HD?
Review of Buffalo DriveStation TurboUSB HD-HS750U2 750 GB by Surj1

Advantages: 750GB, 7200rpm, Hi-Speed USB, Very reliable & Easy To Use
Disadvantages: None

The Buffalo Drive Station Turbo USB HD-HS750U2 750 GB is a very useful external hard drive. I have networked computers so use it for back up and storage, which makes it easy for the networked computers to access the same data from one unit. The unit itself is well designed and looks good, its basically just going to sit next to your computer and is just a shell for the hard drive inside and for that it looks quite cool. The dimensions of the unit ...
...your PC. Overall the Buffalo Drive Station Turbo USB HD-HS750U2 750 GB is a device which will save you time and space. I have found it to be very useful as a back up hard drive and storage of information which I want shared for other PC's which are connected to access, its also very reliable and fast. The external hard drive costs around £130 and is well worth it for the amount of space you get for extra storage. ... Read review

A fantastic external hard disk
Review of Buffalo DriveStation HD-HB250U2 250 GB by rjw01

Advantages: Size, capacity, does the job!
Disadvantages: Stand, heat

I bought the 250gb Buffalo hard disk from Amazon and paid 95gbp. I need the extra capacity as I have a laptop which perfectly meets my needs with a 20gb hard disk, but then purchased a 60gb iPod which required extra space. The buffalo drive perfectly meets my requirements, and now is home to my photo's, music and video. Positives ------------ Capacity - unless major movie files are your needs, 250gb is sufficient for most users. In fact even ...
...- that is still 125 movies! Noise - it doesn't make any. Reliability - been using it every day for 6 months and it is has not let me down once. Ease of use - plugged in to various pc's, in various countries, and it just works. Two lights on front (Power and Access) so nothing too complicated there. Power switch on back allowing manual on, auto on, and a seperate on/off switch. Simple. Cables - simple power supply and USB connector (lack of Firewire ... Read review

Seagate 7200RPM SATA 300 Hard Drive
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB by TheTechGuy0

Advantages: Fast with large files, quiet fast with small files, quiet, doesn't struggle with large files.
Disadvantages: May need defragging alot.

I have this drive pre installed in my computer and the first thing i realised was that it was extremely FAST; i had tested the drive on a hard drive benchmarking program called 'HDTach'. This is as on my HP'm7635', using this drive i got a burst speed of 210 MB/s and a average read rate of 70MB/s; both are extremely fast. I also realised that this drive was extremely quiet; being installed in my media cennter PC it wasn't exactly a suprise though. ...
...the context of everyday computng this hard drive is very fast, windows loads up very quickly. You can force large files down the hard drive and it wont struggle; though i still recommend that you defragmentate the drive on a regular basis for optimal speed. To expand on my statement of what fast is, i mean to say that the drive is able to handle copying of large files such as movies very quickly. The drive is also fast in seeking files from a random ...
