Had this drive for under a year and it has failed on me. I am trying to recover data, but its not looking too good. Takes a while for me to even get windows to recognize that there is another HDD connected(not using it as primary drive, just an extra for storage, luckily), and then it says it is not formatted with any file system, and cannot read it. Disadvantages: heat issues, cord connectivity, and small installation problems.

...but I honestly only order Maxtor for my hard drives. Now the only downside to the Maxtor 500 GB is that it is an external drive that, if not careful, can overheat and cause connectivity problems, transfer speed issues, or just annoyance from when the usb gets knocked out.
