Maxtor Maxline III 250GB, Outstanding HDD
Review of Maxtor MaXLine III 250 GB by
andybuck123
Advantages: 5 year warranty, further testing to insure quality, low sound, fast, can be put in Raid
Disadvantages: N/A
...I have also previously owned Maxtor HDD's and they have been brilliant.
I came across the Maxline III range as they offer an extended guarantee (5 years) and have been tested more thoroughly. This gave me some security in thinking these HDD's would be stable and would not crash etc.
Well since i bought them over a year ago I have had no faults or complaints with them at all. I have installed XP on them a few times (due to formatting) and it has ... ...is about 20mins from start to finish.
Boot times are also much quicker than they used to be which is a plus.
The noise emissions from my old HDD were quite noticeable but these HDD's are very quiet, you have to be close to the case to even hear them.
In conclusion a highly recommended product, I would gladly buy another one or two for that matter and put them in Raid again. ...

Maxtor does it again... Bravo!
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250 GB by
mattyprice4004
Advantages: Very fast, reliable and quiet... and Cheap!
Disadvantages: Absolutely nothing!
Maxtor have been there since the beginning of the home PC - They were making 100MB hard disks 12 years ago that are just as good as their 400GB+ disks today.
I have always liked the combination of price and reliability Maxtor drives have offered. You can pick up a Maxtor disk for £10-£15 cheaper on average than you can other manufacturers. My first Maxtor disk was a monstrously big 10GB disk back in 1999, and since then I have truly been hooked. ... ...Anyway, with the 80GB Maxtor DiamondMax 9 I have been using as my Primary disk for over 3 years getting a bit on the full side, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I wanted a disk that would give me years of happy use with no maintenance whatsoever, and so far all of my Maxtor disks have been this way. So I settled on the DiamondMax 10 in the 250GB size. It has a whopping 16MB (!!) cache, and a good 7200RPM spin speed. I do not have native Serial ...

Diamond Max HTPC Drive!
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250 GB by
thehitman
Advantages: Quiet, Swift, Great warranty and Online Support.
Disadvantages: Not much of a Manual but details can be found online!
I have now been using this drive for over one month after waiting to gather all the components for my HTPC (Home Theatre PC). What do I think of this drive?
I think that it is the best drive I have owned yet! Not only is the storage capacity great on this drive but it is lightning fast (compared to my old Diamond Max IDE Drive) and is also very quiet. The bios recognised the device instantly and with SATA cables being used instead of IDE, this gave ... ...cool my system down.
I have Windows Media Center 2005 loaded onto this drive and saw a few recommendations for this drive when using a HTPC. My system is linked to Sky Digital through a Hauppauge PVR card which is able to record straight onto hard disk without the need for a Sky+ Box.
I fournd that the drive is able to record to a very good quality. When playing back recorded material from Sky the drive is very quiet and makes no undue backgroung ...

Oodles of space
Review of Maxtor Ultra Hard Drive Kit 250 GB by
flaggster
Advantages: Space!
Disadvantages: Runs quite hot
...A quick trip to the Maxtor website, and a search for xp and wrong size yielded the solution (in my case, it was to upgrade to service pack 1). However, it would be well worth potential purchasers ensuring that their motherboard chipset/disk controller and operating system support drives this large before purchasing.
I have since used the drive heavily for video editing, and find it an absolute pleasure in use. Capturing video at DVD resolutions, ...

Maxtor!!
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 320 GB by
Tencents
Advantages: Fast, Reliable, Quiet
Disadvantages: Heat (but all drives do)
...and today I insist on, Maxtor drives. I own (and still use) 9 drives in my machine (30gigs short of 2 terra's) - they are Maxtor: 40, 80, 160 (ide), 300, 300, 320, 320 (sata). I also have two Western Dig's 200 and 250 (ide) - they're ok I guess... I love my Maxtor drives though (touch wood) I have never had a problem... ever... okay there was one time I drank too much at a LAN party and formatted the wrong drive, and then there were a lot of times ...
