I only need the space for my porn collection
Review of Western Digital Caviar WD800BB 80 GB by RussellC

Advantages: Hard drive space is very cheap nowadays, and worth it for older PCs. Great manual
Disadvantages: Installation is difficult compared to other PC components

...came away with an 80Gb Western Digital Drive, even though I had never previously heard of the company. Since buying the drive, I have since read about them in computing magazines, and drives by this manufacturer are frequently amongst the top 5 in any group test. This has backed up my view that I have made a sensible and decent purchase for once. ### OPENING THE BOX ### If you have never opened your PC case before, then installing a hard drive ...
...reinstalled them on the new Western Digital D drive, and all of them have seen increases in speed. It is also a lot quieter than my old hard drive. Obviously I boot up using the C drive, so you can hear it whirring and clunking away as the computer starts up, but then I use the programs on the D drive, and the difference in noise level is significantly lower. I occasionally catch myself looking to see if the red light at the front is on, as I can't ... Read review

The wonders of the Hitachi Deskstar
Review of Hitachi DeskStar 7K80 80 GB by lowerboscadjack

Advantages: Reliable, Quick, Quite, Good value for money
Disadvantages: Not a very high capasity

...been using 2 of these Hitachi Deskstar's in my PC for a long time now. I have had no problems with them. For the price you pay to buy one, you are getting cheap and reliable hard disk, witch has a good capacity to price ratio (around 2GB per pound). I would recommend this hard disk to anyone whom it is making up a new computer, or just needs more storage space. This hard disk is probable one of the quickest disks I have used, its read speed is ...
...help, or you can just take it down to PC world, or some other computer shop and they should be able to fit it for you. Over all this is a good value for money hard disk, and in my opinion, You cant go wrong with a Hitachi Deskstar ... Read review

Western Digital 400BB Caviar 40GB Hard Drive
Review of Western Digital Caviar WD400BB 40 GB by positivereflect

Advantages: Fast read/write, 7200rpm spindle speed
Disadvantages: Only 2mb data buffer, Only supports upto ATA100

Having already owned several western digital hard drives before, i knew these would be pretty reliable. Installation was fairly easy - four screws, one data cable, and one power cable connection. The bios on the motherboard recognised the drive perfectly. Once installed and setup, i noticed the difference over my old hard drive straight away. The boot up speed was a lot quicker and i once again had space for all my bits and pieces(after i had ...
...a 20gb 2mb Cache 5400rpm). For any one not into the techie side of things, the faster the spindle speed and the bigger the cache size, the Faster the drive. Although 40gb doesnt sound very big compared to the other sizes available, you can still hold a lot of information on a drive of this size. ... Read review

Maxtor 500GB EXTERNAL
Review of Maxtor Basics Desktop 500 GB by Tribunal18

Advantages: Maximizes the amount of data vs the cost of the product
Disadvantages: heat issues, cord connectivity, and small installation problems.

...but I honestly only order Maxtor for my hard drives. Now the only downside to the Maxtor 500 GB is that it is an external drive that, if not careful, can overheat and cause connectivity problems, transfer speed issues, or just annoyance from when the usb gets knocked out. That being said, if you can get past the downside of have an external I would recommend this product to anyone not using a Mac. The only reason I do not recommend this to Mac owners ... Read review

Review of Seagate Pushbutton Backup External Hard Drive 400 GB by slik321

Advantages: memory, reliability, quality
Disadvantages: size, sound

...The Product - The Seagate pushbutton backup external hard drive 400 GB is a very sturdy and functional machine which gives more than good value for money (depending on the time you buy). Push button backup technology is fantastic although a little time consuming, the general idea is that a complete copy of your computer will be saved onto you external hard drive, if and when your computer messes things up (as will eventually be the case)then never ...
...and size is everything, the seagate hard drive has been designed to give the consumer what they want at a cheap affordable price (much to the buyers delight) setting up the external hard drive on you computer is just too easy, plug the mains in, connect the usb into your computer then press the power/backup button on the front of your hard drive and the job is well and trully a good un'. of course your computer will automatically detect your device, ...
