Advantages: Smaller, less power hungry
Disadvantages: None
...specifically for the G5 model HP Proliant serversso you cannot port them across to other types of servers. Therefore you only really should purchase these drives if you own servers in that range.
Reliability. Bullet proof as with the other forms of SCSI drive. The new technology seems to be working well and not suffering any setbacks in performance or operations.

Advantages: Great reliability. Good storage. Quick to install
Disadvantages: Power hungry
When you need large disk capacity, bulletproof performance and reliability in your servers, you cant really go wrong with the Hewlett Packard Ultra320 146.bGb Scsi hard drives.
When you are running RAID5 on a server and need lots of disks to add to the array, these meaty old disk are a surefire winner every time. Whats more they are in the standard 3.5 inch size and can fit in almost all server applications that require Ultra320 disks.

...at work and these drives suit the G4 style servers. The have an easy access and hot swap caddy to contain them which makes swapping the drives much easier should you need to as well as the initial install.
Installation. You cannot get simpler. Open the box. Slide the Hard drive into the allocated bay in your server until you feel the connections click into position. Push the hot swap lever closed on the fron to lock the drive into the array. Done!

It's not hard to drive in the west
Advantages: good space, great price and works a charm
Disadvantages: not quite the full 320GB stated but hey....

Barracuda 7200.11 AVOID at all costs
Advantages: low noise
Disadvantages: no reliability what so ever, will definitely break unless you update firmware
The Seagate 7200.11 is probably is worst hard disk there is. I have only had it for 9 months and it's broken. ...because of a firmware problem. Seagate has apparently released a fix for it but who ever (except system administrators of course) updates their hard drive firmware? Once the hard drive breaks down there is no way of updating the firmware, so I am now stuck with a bricked drive. Advantages: Fast transfer speeds, quiet, great when it works
