IOMEGA 500GB EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE
Review of Iomega Desktop Hard Drive Value Series Hard drive 500 GB by
mrjwood
Advantages: Easy installation, looks good, ease of use
Disadvantages: None found
I've bought two of these drives now and am very impressed. On opening the box you'll find the following: The drive itself, power supply, USB cable and an instruction leaflet. The drive feels solid and well built, although the aluminium case does have some sharp edges near the front where it joins the plastic bezel.
The drive comes formatted to FAT32, but this is easily changed to NTFS. Being a curious sort, I took one apart to find out the manufacturer ... ...a Seagate Barracuda, not the bottom of the range drive I was expecting!
Installation under Windows XP/Vista is a doddle, just plug in the power cable, plug in the USB cable, switch it on and it's automatically detected and ready to go.
In use, both drives have proved very reliable, and although transfer speeds over USB 2.0 are never going to set the world on fire, it's more than acceptable for storing and replaying your films on as I'm doing.

A hard to damage hard drive!
Review of Iomega eGo Portable Hard drive 250 GB by
thebigc1690
Advantages: Tough, fast and inexpensive!
Disadvantages: None to date.
...even just want.
The Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive in question has a 250Gb capacity which when used along with your original hard drive or probably even on its own is more than enough for most. Some external hard drives look and are very bulky and cumbersome, this one being designed to be portable is a lot less so. It is fairly light weight but very robust and also has the distinct advantage of looking good which a lot certainly do not.
Ok so it`s ... ...the other drives out there for functionality? Well the simple answer is yes it can and very well too, this drive is not only a good looker but also a very good performer. It connects to your PC or laptop via USB and needs no external power supply. It has a Data Transfer Rate of 480 Mbps which is up there with the best and has the following system requirements, Windows 2000/XP/Vista - Pentium II - RAM 256 MB MacOS X 10.1.5 or later - PowerPC G3 - ...

The way to go.
Review of Iomega MiniMax Desktop Hard Drive Hard drive 500 GB by
thewhitewolf
Advantages: great efficient, cleanly designed hard drive
Disadvantages: no backup software
I bought this hard drive for £101 and it has been a pleasure to use. It's a doddle to set up and install and the fast rate of transfer makes file sharing very efficient and easy.
Design
The portable hard drive comes in an attractive silver case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It is a fully functional travel companion and easily fits into a rucksack or laptop bag. This is feasable because it weighs relatively little and is easy to handle.
... ...by windows wizard as soon as i plugged it in, so within 20 minutes i was backing up my files.
Performance
Performance is good for a portable hard disk, and there was no real difference in speed between the two interfaces. T
Features
It doesn't ship with backup software, just file-synchronisation software, but this serves a similar purpose. A two-plug USB splitter cable and a six-pin FireWire cable are included so you shouldn't need to use an ...

Performance is good for a portable hard disk, and there was no real difference in speed between the two interfaces. That said, it is only 160GB, which is a bit much when you can get a near-identical Western Digital Passport 120GB for £65. Features

This is a bargain that i couldn't pass up without buying. 1TB should keep me going for several years and more.
