Advantages: very good value for money, under 35p per GB

A Nice hard disk "non-fullyable"

Advantages: The potency of Maxtor
Disadvantages: It speed continious being 7200 rmp

Steer clear of this Hard Drive.

Advantages: Value.
Disadvantages: Unreliable, Noisey, maxtor's warranty is a joke.

...I decided to run the Maxtor utility suite to find out more and after a quick scan it said it had a permanent failure and to run an "in depth scan", this is what I then did. After two hours of "Deep Scanning" it then threw out an error code at me and told me to contact Maxtor. I accepted this and contacted Maxtor for a solution. A quaility Hardisk

Advantages: Cheap Reliable and FAST
Disadvantages: none really

I recieveved this 200GB hardisk in my new ADVENT computer over 2 years ago. Review of Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 200 GB

Quick, but you pay in noise

Advantages: Fast seek times
Disadvantages: Poor RAID 0 performance, highly unreliable, noisy

...and they were replaced with Maxtor Plus 9s (which I also reviewed here) which have worked perfectly so far (touchwood). I've never learnt from Maxtor exactly what the problem was, but I assume it was poor quality bearings in the drive motor.
