Low power with high storage Drive
Advantages: Low power, Less heat, big storage Disadvantages: Low RPM (Speed)
...other types, for comparision, The WD Caviar Green is about 25% slower than other performance drive. Just remember that this drive only for those who would like to save more energy yet get more spaces. Its Cool ! No, Really.. literally this drive is cooler in terms of heat. Since this drive is about 5 watts less and this drive runs most in 5400 rpm. So this drive is cooler. I can even touch it and its slightly warm. Hence, this will also reduce ... ...points I gave above, This WD Caviar Green Power (For some people prefer the term 'GP') Will be perfect for External Drive. You can purchase any external enclosure without cooling fans and mount this HDD inside without the worry of being overheated. Conclusion So I would very recommend this HDD for average desktop users, very good for normal use, HTPC. Not recommended for hardcore gaming rigs though. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the value, this ...

Quality comes at a price....a low one.
Advantages: Cheap, good capacity, excellent performance Disadvantages: Not found any yet
I purchased a WD Scorpio Blue 320gb drive as an upgrade when the drive in my Samsung NC10 packed in after less than a year (I prefered to upgrade than try to get a replacement drive under warranty).
I was surprised when I cracked open the NC10 to find it had a 160gb version of the WD Scorpion Blue drive I'd just purchased. This didn't fill me with confidence, although it did mean switching over the drives was a piece of cake.
The WD 320gb drive ... ...the 160gb drive was fairly quiet.... now all I have is the eerie sound of the CPU fan occasionally kicking in, with absolutely no noticeable disk drive sound.
The drive definately performs well getting the best out of small netbook like the NC10. It was also very easy partitioning the drive, so now I have dual boot with Ubuntu as well as Windows.
Its been about 5 months since I fitted this drive and its performed faultlessly, I would definately ...

Sturdy, but outdated
Advantages: Low power consumption, nice size Disadvantages: Pathetic cache, outdated SATA I
...is a solid option.
WD offer a fantastic warranty on this product, which is usually not needed, as ther build quality is extrodinary. These disks have a good, stable platter and this helps protect from bump damage.
Speed wise, the spindle speed is average for a laptop drive, as is 150mps, but its the tiny cache that gets on my nerves with these drives.
I would check out Samsung's Spinpoint range, and pick up a 250Gb 7200Rpm 16mb cache SATA II disk ...

The Best HDD avaliable!
Advantages: Looks amazing, performs amazing. Disadvantages: A bit expensive.. its just a HDD afterall
This product has to be one of the most impressive looking computer component i have ever seen. The clear top complements my acrylic case and shows off the spindle and disk spinning at 10000RPM! Wow! From using my old IDE 7200RPM hdd to this one, i have lost 14 seconds on my windows load and loads more time off computer game load screens etc. The Raptor has probably boosted my overall performance of my computer far more then replacing any other component. ...

Nothing to be seen!
Advantages: quick, very large, efficient internal hard drive Disadvantages: opening up the pc tower - urgh!
I really do love Western Digital hard drives as they deliver great performance and storage at very reasonable prices. This is no exception.
This is a very cool and compact metal-cased storage device that works as well as you would expect from Western Digital, which means phenomenal performance at a great price.
Design
Its presented in a big box, and I was very relieved (and also surprised) to see how small it actually is! At 8cm in width, by 1.5 ... ...take up much space in your pc tower. Its a miniscule 105 gs which means i can hold it in one palm quite easily. The stainless steel enclosure case is attractive and i hardly notice the sounds it makes when transferring files, thats how quiet this metal box is!
Instructions
Opening up and setting the hard drive in was the biggest time-consumer but it can be done within 20 minutes and then its a simple case of the software being recognised and it ...
