SONIC BOOM SIX KICKIN OFF!
Review of Ruff Guide To Genre Terrorism, The - Sonic Boom Six by ANTACID

Advantages: A BREATH OF FRESH AND FURIOUS AIR
Disadvantages: BELOW THE RADAR AS YET!

...this, their debut LP ‘The Ruff Guide to Genre Terrorism’ released just under a year ago was vastly overlooked. Here is a band with as much diversity as you could ask for, with songs strong enough to entice even the most sceptical of listeners. Tracks 1, 5 and 11 are my personal favourites. If Soulwax were a ska act, you could expect this as standard produce! ... Read review

Sound of a Revolution
Review of Arcade Perfect - Sonic Boom Six by RazzaLazza

Advantages: Fantastic dual vocals throughout the album, eclectic and effective mash-up of genres.
Disadvantages: May be a little too much going on in one album for some.

Sonic Boom Six are a band that have driven through from the underground; their journey began in Manchester in the April 2002, and they finally released their début album 'The Ruff Guide to Genre-Terrorism' in July 2006. Having gotten their début out of the way after four years, they are now onto their second studio album and it was in fact released in November 2007 through Rebel Alliance Recordings. Sonic Boom Six have come a long way as a band over ...
...to that fact. Combining elements of Reggae, Punk, and Hip-Hop - the music of Sonic Boom Six is a concoction that has to be heard to be believed. Add to that mix the energy of Jungle and the essence of Ska, then you'll come somewhere close to the sound of Sonic Boom Six. It shouldn't work, yet somehow it does and the band mix the sounds perfectly in order to provide an innovative sound which is very much their own. Sonic Boom Six are a band that ... Read review

SONIC BOOM SIX FINDING THEIR FEET!
Review of Sounds To Consume - Sonic Boom Six by ANTACID

Advantages: GOOD INTRODUCTION TO A GREAT BANDS EARLY STUFF
Disadvantages: UNDERDEVLOPED SOUND THAT JUST FAILS TO PLEASE.

WOW! This 4 track E.P. After some sampled radio cuts, it kicks in sounding like an eastern Senser demo, before shifting rapidly sideways toward the chirpy voice of the gorgeous Laila K, the bands only female member. If she didn't spit out her lyrics with the spite she does, she could easily dub over any Betty Boop cartoon! Typically driven with Manc attitude, metal guitar work and extra male vocals to give an added dimension, we seemlessly go to ...
...same, failing to diversify from track 1, except for the peculiar drum and bass outro. Still havin' it though! Track 3 brings some good old raggamuffin rhymin' and stylin' that Gorillaz would be proud of. EEEEAAAAAASSSSSSYYYYYYYY! Everyone is getting in on the act, taking a casual swipe at the mic as the steady smooth hooks riffs licks and beats carry us to track 4. Images of Beavis and Butthead headbanging fill my mind until the metal guitar work ... Read review

Garage Inc - good for the old stuff
Review of Garage Inc. [PA] - Metallica by SGallagher

Advantages: Great Compilation of Old Material
Disadvantages: The 'new' covers aren't great

...old cover versions (the original Garage Days Re-Visited), the 1987 EP (can't remember the actual name of it), B-sides etc). Unfortunately, the covers that appear here for the first time are rather disappointing and show that Metallica really were on the decline. Hetfield's voice has deteriorated by this point and he has started to squeal a bit, a habit which he has continued over the years. The choices of covers are quite strange too and when I ...
...to get a bit old (even though they were only in their mid-30s at the time). The mix is too eclectic for my tastes. There's no denying that they made a well-played, well-produced record here, but it doesn't blow you away like the other covers. If you don't already own all the previously released covers, this is worth buying, but to be brutally frank, you could end up using the disc of 'new' covers to scare away the birds from your crops. ... Tool - 10000 days
Review of Tool 10,000 days by Ownage_AUA

Advantages: Great songs from an incredible band
Disadvantages: -

...what I most like about Tool is, that they don't just make music for the money and they do not make so-callled "Shovel-music" such as certain artists *cough*Brittney Spears *cough*. But overall I think this is a solid album, personal favorites from this album include "Vicarious" and "1000 days" but to be honest I love almost all songs that Tool created, only a few exceptions exist here! All-in-All This is worth buying at just 12$ at some stores ... Read review
