Advantages Screen & Panniers as standard, comfort

Disadvantages Plenty of cleaning required!!

I have now had my Heritage for 4 weeks and love it. I've changed from a 2002 1200 Sportster Sport, and there is a huge difference.

I'm only 5'10 and was slightly concerned about riding a bike of such huge proportions and weight, but as soon as you start moving the weight just seems to dissapear, the engine's got bags of torque and can accelerate surprisingly quickly.

It's much more nimble than would appear, but the hindering factor is that ground clearance is a major issue, with the floorboards grounding out easily on each side, great for impressing (scaring) passengers, but not good for the bike.

The tank range is great, easily achieving 150 miles with using nearly the entire tank. The fuel injection system is seamless, making cold morning rides a breeze, no more fiddling with the hard to reach choke.

The screen and floorboards make long journeys an easy task, with just a slight wind noticable at around 80mph on the top of the crash helmet, I ride with a flip up style helmet, but the wind is less noticable with an open face.

The single front disk affords sufficient stopping power, it's not a sports bike, but can slow from 80+ quickly enough.

I found the clutch tiring during town riding/traffic jams, and have had a easiboy clutch fitted (>$20 not including fitting) which has made the clutch easier than a hydraulic version, a must have!

I considered purchasing a Fatboy, but the Heritage costs less, and comes with the leather panniers, passing lamps, and quick release screen as standard, making it a much more attractive purchase. The only bit I don't like are the studs on the panniers and seat, but this is to capture a nostalgic feel.

I've had Vance & Hines short shots fitted which make for a much cleaner looking right side of the bike, and a great noise, the screaming eagle pipes sound like the standard pipes in comparrison.

Test ride one!!
