I woke up this morning and put my computer on. As usual the first thing I do on a Saturday morning is put some music on....... BOOM.. No more speakers.
So clearly forced to go out and buy some new ones I came across a little problem. What speakers do I buy? Do I buy standalone speakers as I already had that would plug into my amp? Do I buy a 5.1 surround system and use my amp for other things? or do i just buy plain old computer speakers?
I wasnt sure, so I went to my local PC retail outlet to find out more. On the way to the store, I decided I wanted 5 speakers so that narrowed my optons a little.
I arrived at the store and got a sales bod to help me and he promptly introduced to me a huge selection of speaker systems. I was stunned at the choice, and the prices ranged from £20 to £300. My budget was £150 so I started looking. After about five minutes of looking at boxes and not being able to make up my mind, the advisor suggested the Harman / KardonSoundSticks 2 stating that they were brilliant. So I had a look, opened up the box to take a look and was surprised at what i found.
The speakers are tiny! About 30cm tall with four small tweeter sized cones inside. This immediately put me off because I KNEW I wanted some loud speakers but the design is fantastic, they look really stylish and sleek (just like me :P ) The price was right at £139 and my best friend that came with said he had heard them before and thought I should definately buy them. So..... I did.
When i got home I unpacked the box and just placed everything on my desk to have a look. The sub looks like what I can best describe as a jellyfish, with a clear plastic shell. I like fish so I thought, best try them out. I put the sub under my desk and the two satellite speakers at ear level on a shelf either side of my desk, turned on my pc and played some music.
All I can say is WOW! I had no idea you could get such immense sound from such small pieces of kit!!! The sound was amazingly clear, very "perky" and you could clearly distinguish which channels the sounds were coming out from. I did think at the time that my older speakers were louder, so I was a little disheartened untill i looked at the box the speakers came in and read "TOUCH volume control"
"Touch volume control?? what is that?" I asked myself. I knew the sub had a volume switch, but it was a dial and not "touch". So it had to be the satellites, and it was... the right speaker has two little metal buttons on the bottom - and stone me if they arent touch sensitive!! GREAT!! The max volume is deafeningly loud whilst still maintaining the crystal clarity.
To top everything off, the sub has a little purlply blue neon in it!
PROS =====
Very clear Very loud Very sexy Very sleek Easy to use and set up Great value for money
CONS =====
Short wire from the sub to the PC limiting places to put the sub
Bit of a pain if you want to adjust sub volume as you have to pull it out from under the desk.
The manual is very basic, only limited information.
I really recommend this system, for games, films and music as you will be hard pressed to find something that looks as good and performs as good as these for the money!
ENJOY THEM!

I did see the price £139, well the review is definitely great. I say just don't underestimate technology. These days technology will take you by surprise. I have the latest Packard Bell computer, and it surely does everything I want it to.

They sound good but I can't see a price anywhere in your review - just your budget of £150. You may want to edit. Lexy
