Advantages: An excellently written book. Disadvantages: It is naturally harrowing at times.
, is that he now thought he was invulnerable; but we are left to make up our own minds.
The authors tell us just enough about each (known) victim to give us a clear picture of the people he killed ; sometimes frail old folk, sometimes sturdy souls still enjoying life to the full, but all innocent, all loved by someone. The character vignettes are so well done that all the people come across as three dimensional figures, which is a laudable achievement in a book of this kind.
Shipman became increasingly careless until finally he slipped up. He murdered Kathleen Grundy, an ex-mayoress of the town. Her daughter, Angela Woodruff, was a solicitor, and when she saw her mother?s alleged will, clumsily forged, leaving everything to Dr. HaroldShipman, she went to the police. Mrs Grundy?s body was disinterred, and the grisly investigations ...
Advantages: 100 players have a chance to play, it is very funny and the questions are not that easy although some are obvious. Disadvantages: It is only shown on Challenge TV :-(
I have been watching a gameshow called 'Whittle' on Challenge TV, weeknights at 9pm.
I came across it by accident as it followed on from The Crystal Maze which my son loves to watch.
It was a show that was first shown on Channel 4 (5?) a few years ago. I never saw it before and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy it and believe it has potential should they decide to revive it.
It has similarities to Who Wants To Be a Millionaire but it involves the whole audience.
There are 100 players in the audience and they each have a keypad, numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4.
A multiple choice question is asked and the 100 players select their choice.
The players that get the question wrong are out of the game.
The remaining players continue to the next question and so on.
Halfway through the show, if there are more than 10 players ...

Advantages: great host, good format, funny Disadvantages: none
There are no doubt several people who've never heard of this one, and it doesn't suprise me. Whittle was one of the first shows on Channel 5 when it was launched back in 97, however it has probably gained more popularity now second time round, as its being repeated on Sky on Challenge TV.
For those of you who have never seen it I would wholeheartedly recommend that you try and tune in and give it a crack. It is a very basic and simple yet clever idea for a game show. The prizes and set aren't the most upmarket but this all adds to the ombience of the show. It is presented by Tim Vine, who is also a very funny stand up comedien. He helps make the show what it is because his constant one liners in between questions are hilarious. Even the bad ones are funny because they're so bad!
The show starts with Tim introducing the '4 to ...

Manufacturer's product description
He was a pillar of the community serving on local committees donating prizes to the rugby club organising charity collections. His patients thought the world of him: he was attentive kind never too busy to chat. Yet Dr Harold Frederick Shipman was also the most prolific serial killer the world has ever known with between 200 and 300 victims. Quietly for many years the small bespectacled GP was making unexpected house calls - and walking out leaving a dead body behind. The murderous career of Dr Shipman only came to an end when police in Hyde Greater Manchester were called to investigate a forged will. Overnight they found themselves embroiled in the biggest murder case in British history. Substantially revised and updated since Shipman's suicide in prison this is a compelling account of these monstrous crimes and of the man who committed them. The authors have had unparalleled access to friends colleagues and patients. Their in-depth and authoritative investigation looks at how he killed how he was able to get away with it for so long and - most important of all - why.
