series, picks up shortly after we left Harry at the end of The Order of the Phoenix. Lord Voldemort is acting out in the open, continuing his reign of terror which was temporarily stopped almost 15 years beforehand. Harry is again at the Dursleys, where the events of the previous month continue to weigh on his mind, although not as much as the impending visit from his Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Given their last meeting, Harry is understandably confused as to why the old wizard would want to visit him at home. Rowling opens with a chapter she had wanted to use for the first book, of The Philosopher's Stone--Lord Voldemort has been creating chaos in the Wizard and Muggle communities alike, the war is in full swing and the Wizarding community now lives in fear. The press have been questioning the events at the Ministry which led to the admission of Voldemort's return, and of course Harry's name is mentioned a number of times. Harry's got his problems, but his anxiety is nothing compared to Hermione's when the OWL results are delivered. There's a new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher, an assortment of new characters and creatures, and startling revelations about past characters and events. Gone is the rage-filled Harry of The Order of the Phoenix--he's not being kept in the dark any more, his unjustified Quidditch ban has been lifted and he has matured considerably in his short time out of school. Half-Blood Prince follows Harry into the world of late-teens, and his realisation that nobody is infallible has made his growth that much easier. Accepting his destiny, Harry continues to behave as teenagers do, enjoying his time with his friends, developing his relationships outside of his usual circle, and learning more about how he must, eventually, do what he is destined to do. J.K. Rowling delivers another fantastic tale which will have the readers gasping for more, capturing the characters perfectly and continuing a tale which readers will enjoy over and over again. --Ziggy Morbi

Advantages: Gripping Plot, Great character development Disadvantages: Takes a little while to get moving
...a proper old broth, including Harry and Ginny finally getting together (About time! I hear you cry...) Ron and Hermione... not. Harry finds he has been given a potions book with notes scribbled in the margin that differ from the publishers, and decides to try them, annoying Hermione by getting better scores... and there are spells too... what to do?
We find out WHY Voldemort survived, the reason for Tom being in the Diary, who the Half Blood Prince ... ...after being weakened while with Harry - more, I cannot say, though I've never been as close to crying as I have with this book.
Character Development.
Well, as I've mentioned, Ginny comes into the story far more, and good grief is she a firebrand and a half! Her development comes through strongly, well written and is quite honestly, unsuprising - anything you find out you couuld have guessed from the previous books.
We delve into Voldemort aka ...

Advantages: Gripping, Easy to read, Really nice to read Disadvantages: Some chapters are boring
...have been a fan of Harry potter since the first book, I read, that book but then had a rest and had not read any of the other Harry potter books. I just went to see the films, I went to see Harry potter and the order of the Pheonix film and Luna Lovegood being in that film made me such a big fan of Luna. I just wanted to see more of Luna so I went to read this book. I got a lot more than just my Luna lovegood, I also got a gripping adventure from ... ...visited by the wizard minister. Harry is left at his home at privet drive he is left thinking about what happened at Hogwarts in the those years like Harry usually does. Harry's looking though the papers and pondering on things like this little note he has from someone if what it says on the note will ever happen or maybe Harry is just dreaming, that is where the action starts this book has ever you would want in a Harry potter book magic, spells ...

Advantages: fantastic and engrosing Disadvantages: you just cant stop
...of the best in the Harry Potter series. It has so much tension that you just can not put it down. This book shows the strengths and weaknesses of Harry Potter and also shows how strong his friendship with Ron and Hermione is. This book has lots of twists to it and you get to learn more about Voldermort also. You see how he became the Wizard he is and why it is Harry that he must fight against. The parts between Harry and Dumbledore also show how ... ...has a great trust within Harry as he invites him to find the horcruxes with him which is a dangerous task. The part where Dumbledore dies is also very touching. I have not gone into much detail about this book as i do not want to spoil it for those few of you who have never read the Harry Potter series. All i will say is you dont know what your missing. ...

Another one of the amazing JK Rowling books. This book is the story of Harry's last year at Hogwarts (although he doesn't know it yet) and another brilliantly told story of magic and friendship.
