Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Why read this one?... What tempted me to read this book? Until recently I had not considered reading this book, I had seen all of the movies because my daughter had insisted that they were so good I had to do. I have to admit to finding them enjoyable ... The Philosophers Stone Review with images

AdvantagesWritten by J K Rowling - she knows how to tell a story

DisadvantagesWhy did it take me so long to get around to reading it?

"...it proves a disappointment when Harry is headhunted by Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft - something that uncle Vernon had swore would never be allowed to happen. Having endured almost ten years with this muggle family Harry looked forward to a new home and good times at Hogwarts and sure enough there will be plenty to be thankful for - but dark magic and an evil enemy have other plans for Harry Potter and it will become evident that he is ..." Harry and his First Year... Review with images

AdvantagesExitment. Well Written.Enjoyable...

Disadvantages-

"...the colourful cover read " Harry Potter " and the Philosopher's Stone by JK Rowling... I looked at the book but didn't seem to bothered about it so I put it in the " Look at later pile ". I opened the rest of my gifts and later in the day after my lovely christmas lunch, the Harry Potter book re appeared when I was cleaning up my rubbish from the wrapping of presents... I picked up the book and took it to my room with a hot chocolate and sat ..." Read review

Harry Potter, the phenomenon begins...

AdvantagesGreat book that gets children reading, fires the imagination

DisadvantagesPlot is dark for younger children, may be difficult to get into at first

"...lightning scar to prove it, Harry is left with his only remaining relatives who despise him. His Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and cousin Dudley (the Dursleys), finds himself average at school, with no friends, and no idea that he is soon to become an eleven year old wizard. Harry isn't a boy genius like Artemis Fowl. He isn't a fully-fledged necromancer like Sabriel. He's "Harry, just Harry." The Phenomenon... ================ And that's why the ..." Read review

The Start of a Magical Journey...

AdvantagesEverything!

DisadvantagesNothing!

"...as myself - self proclaimed Harry Potter nut - has yet to review anything Potter related. This is because I love this series so much, I'm not sure my reviews could do the books justice. However, with less than a month to go before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I think the time is right to try and persuade those who have not read any Harry Potter, that this is something they need to read! **Blurb** "Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary ..." Wonderful wizardry

AdvantagesExciting!

DisadvantagesIt's supposed to be for kids!

"...the boxed set of the Harry Potter books from my friend, and although this review is technically about the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone, I have to recommend that you read them all! The Philosopher's Stone starts off in a normal house on a normal street. In that house live a family called the Dursley's. Mr. and Mrs. Dursley live there with their beloved son Dudley and an impostor called Harry who lives under the stairs amongst the spiders. ..." Read review
