Advantages: Mellow, rich and unique in a stylish distinct bottle Disadvantages: Perhaps more pricey than some sherries
...Harveys Bristol Cream is the world’s best selling sherry. Harveys has produced fine Spanish sherry from the Jerez region of Spain since 1796.
Harveys Bristol Cream stands out from other sherries in taste and quality. Harveys Bristol Cream is a blend of three sherry types — Fino, Amontillado and Oloroso, all created from the Palomino grape – that are then sweetened with Pedro Ximénez wine. Each adds a unique flavor and textural element to the final blend. The final blend is a closely guarded company secret. Harveys Bristol Cream sweetness is ultimately adjusted to 13.8 - 14.2% by the addition of wine created from the sun-dried Pedro Ximénez, which adds a creamy, raisiny richness.
The Bristol Blue bottle was introduced in 1996 to mark Harveys 200th anniversary. Bristol, besides being an important seaport, had become one of Britain...

Advantages: Delicious and very drinkable sherry Disadvantages: Too sweet for some people
...-producing bacteria, and allows the sherry to develop slowly. Blending and maturing takes years depending on the type of Sherry. Mixing a little of the newer wine with an older one as some is drawn off. The casks are stored in tiered rows in a Solera. It is possible to visit these and taste different types of sherry, but a word of warning, you might not remember which one you liked at the end!
A FEW TYPES OF SHERRY
There are different types of sherry, Fino which is the lightest and driest, a very delicate sherry. Amontillado, more amber in colour, still dry and has a nutty flavour. Amoroso is a sweet smooth Oloroso with Pedro Jimenez wine added to sweeten it.
A SPECIAL BOTTLE OF SHERRY!

...experience is one of taking a generous sip of a full bodied medium sherry. Also though I could SEE the sparkle in the glass, there is little to suggest sparkle in the mouth.
There is a pronounced warming sensation on swallowing (look at the alcohol content). Again the lingering feeling on the palate is of having drunk a good quality sherry or fortified wine.
We gave a small glass to Grandma (an inveterate amontilladosherry imbiber – who would never consider drinking a beer!!). This brew passed the “empty glass” test with flying colours.
We drank our bottle as an aperitif. It is certainly not a “swigging” beer. I would not want to replace my cabernet sauvignon with this as an accompaniment to the main course.
I wonder what the seven year old vintage would taste like!
CONCLUSION
In conclusion this is an interesting experiment...
