Can You Connect 4?

Advantages Fantastic Game, Easy To Play, Cheap, Easy To Set Up.
Disadvantages Kids Sometimes Lose The Pieces.
When browsing the toy aisle in Sainsbury's recently I saw that Connect 4 (amongst others) was up for offer on half price, just £4.50 and I promptly added one of these to my basket.
The items needed to play the game are packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and within the box there is red counter, yellow counters and the plastic pieces needed to make up the connect 4 board. The legs and the board slot fairly well together and the board has two different ends, one for slotting the counters in and one for holding them in place. The bottom part (the holding them in place part) is a little flimsy and can break fairly easily, however you can glue this back on (if very neat and good with the super glue) or just sellotape it as I will do when it inevitably breaks! The aim of the game is to be the first person (out of two players) to beat your opponent by making four in a row, up, down, across or horizontal. You need to pay a little attention when playing this game so that you can try to get your four in a row whilst stopping your opponent from beating you by getting four in a row first!
This game is really for kids from around 7 or more but it's quite possible for younger children to play along too, and win, especially if you don't pay much attention (like me!). This game is also good for younger children to practice their hand eye co-ordination as they have to put the counters in to the slot they want at the top and this can take a little practice for little ones.I was very pleased with the price that I paid in my local Sainsburys and I may return to get a couple of these for Christmas presents as they really are great fun, providing the kids don't lose all the pieces. I am a huge fan of this game and I have been playing it for quite a few years now and I'm sure it is going to remain a hit for many generations, partly because of it's simplicity and also it's a bargain even at it's usual price of £9.00.
I am going to rate this game 5/5 as it's fantastic fun for most of the family and I never really tire of playing it because I love trying to think up new strategies.Summary: A Fantastic Game!
