Advantages Advantages easy to play, lots of fun and take very little practice to get the hang of

Disadvantages Disadvantages none at all, unless players get a little annoyed

It’s that time of the year again, that time where we have to figure out what to get people for Christmas, (am I allowed to use the ‘C’ word on here? I’m not sure but I’ve said it now). Anyway, it’s Christmas and it’s time to spend more money of gifts for people we like, and in fact people we don’t like, (mentioning no names at all Bob). Sadly these days board games don’t seem to be as popular due to the fact that electronic games are the younger generations first choice, mainly so they can head off to their rooms on their own and play on their DS, play station, Xbox or one of the other ones ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun game to play, set to set up and pack away.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy and boring after a few games.

I have always been a lover of games as a child one of the games I used to like was Hungry Hippos. I have no idea what ever happened to mine, however when in my local Asda a few months back I purchased the game for our toy box. Hungry Hippos – By MB Games: “This is a frantic marble gathering action game which will test your speed and agility. The hippo with the most marbles wins the game! A great way to unleash your competitive side!” My Findings: I couldn’t wait to give this game another go with Gracie May my 5 year old niece and God-daughter, as she is like me in so many ways I knew she was ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of fun, fast game

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy

Hungry Hippos is a game for children to play. I think it was quite an ingenious game to have invented when it first came out. It is a simple idea but lots of fun, The idea of the game is that you have these plastic hippos, there are four of them and they are different colours. They are situated around a circular arena type of thing. They have a lever coming out of their back ends and when you press this lever it makes the hippos lean forward and their mouths open and then close, then it pulls them back to their normal place again. You put some marbles in the middle arena then everyone works ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to set up, well made and fun to play

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very, very noisy.

Hasbro have produced many children’s games and one of the most fun to play is Hungry Hippos. It is aimed at younger children – starting at three - so there is no need to learn lots of rules and there is always plenty of noise so it is ideal for the age group it is aimed at. I don’t mind playing this as there are no disagreements about who wins as there are no ways to cheat and with my nephew that is always an advantage!! Once one of us had the most marbles then they were the winner and there were no arguments about it. It can be played by 2 to 4 players as there are 4 Hippos available and ... more

Advantages Advantages fun to play, teaching children counting

    Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly flimsy

If ever there was a game that could transport me back to my childhood, then this is it. Hungry Hippos. Many an hour I whiled away fighting with my siblings over who was what hippo and who was cheating.... So, when I saw it in my local branch of The Entertainer quite recently, I had to purchase to play with my nieces and nephews when they visit. The game cost me £11.20 and is for ages four plus. THE GAME The game board is simple, as is the game. You are provided with a thick plastic board, on which sit four different coloured hippos – pink, yellow, green and orange. Well, you are provided with ... more
