ALL ABOARD THE NINKY NONK-BUT NOT FOR LONG
Advantages: COLOURFUL, TOUGH WEARING, APPEALLING TO FANS Disadvantages: DOES NOT STAY TOGETHER (ALTHOUGH MAY HAVE A NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION)

This toy train was purchased in September at the Butlins gift shop,in Skegness during our last holiday by my son who saw it and had to have it(if you have read my other reviews you will know that my 2 years old son is an avid fan of the programme). So we parted with £9.99 and got him it.
It comes in three sections which are detachable. The first one is the boat shaped driving front (not used by anyone but sometimes kissed by Upsy Daisy). The second half has 2 attached sections. The first one is the ball shaped carrier favoured by the tomliboos and Makka Pakka and the very little house shaped carriage for the Pontepines. The third section has the rectangular shape carriage used by UPpsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle(when travelling together) and the oval dome shaped carriag used by Iggle Piggle(when travelling solo).
The carriages attach with a hook system(although hook isn't the right word). They connect but very loosely and do not allow you to race the train around like it does in the stories(it even sometimes travels upside down therefore impossible.
This was a real disappointment for my son who tried in vain to tug it just for it to come apart at the first bump(and annoying for me who constantly had to put them back together). He now only picks up one piece at a time when he sees it on tv as he has given up trying. On the plus side, it has shown that it is a very tough toy which is still not broken even after all this frustration.
This toy is colourful and very appealling but it cannot be used to its full extent. The fast riding is the only real appeal of the toy as it does not have any doors or other features. I have however heard that Playskool(who make the toy) have redesigned it since its launch to improve its connectivity and give it a more secure ride. I hope this is true as since I have bought it, the price has increase by over £5 (yes christmas is around the corner) and if it is still the same, there will be a lot of disappointed 2 to 3 years old and frustrated mothers all over the country. I ,for one, will not try to buy another one to find out.
Advantages: long lasting, durable, reliable, strong, colours don't fade, safe, fun and value for money Disadvantages: In the year that it's been played with every day I've not seen one
My oldest kid was really addicted to In The Night Garden when he was about 16-18 months old. All he would do is try to say the word 'Garden' constantly when he wasn't watching it. He would go crazy and get all excited when the Ninky Nonk and Pinky Ponk would come on. When I spotted this Ninky Nonk toy in Woolworths (R.I.P) I just had to get him it. As soon as he seen it his eyes lit up and he wouldn't stop playing with it. He would even play with ... ...the 'choo-choo' and 'tick-tick' type sounds the Ninky Nonk would make. This became his favourite toy and has been for over a year now. He always takes this where he goes, as it's hardly ever out of sight. It got to the point where if he wouldn't go to bed quietly we would give him the Ninky Nonk to take with him. We would watch him fall asleep hugging it! This toy has been played with every day for hours on end. It's even been rammed into other trains ...

Advantages: Colourful replica of the cheeky TV train Disadvantages: Does not join together or stay joined as one train
In the Night Garden is a colourful CBBC program which my little 2yr old brother watches avidly every night before bedtime. Among the various characters is this cheeky little train the Ninky Nonk. It rushes around crazily with ringing bells and flashing lights and the other characters ride in it.
As it is one of the noisiest, fastest and colourful characters In the Night Garden, it was the only toy my brother wanted this Christmas so I duly paid ... ...It was sold out in my local Boots in November!
The Ninky Nonk features 3 plastic carriages on wheels which in the TV series the characters ride in, including Makka Pakka, Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and sometimes the Whattingers if they manage to catch the Nink-Nonk! Unfortunately this Ninky Nonk train seemed a little small for the price paid for it, it is much smaller for example than a Thomas the Tank Engine train and each carriage is not much bigger ...

Advantages: strong, versatile, compact, nice bright colours, fun to play with Disadvantages: none so far
I decided to buy the in the night garden ninky nonk train set from Amazon as my young daughter is a big fan of in the night garden and whenever it comes on TV she gets really excited. So as my daughter already had some of the other characters from the show I wanted her to have the whole set and since buying it the train set the ninky nonk train set has become one of her favourite toys to play with on a daily basis. The train set can come apart and ... ...looking at the nice bright colours and putting some of the other in the night garden characters onto the train set even though it keeps falling of now and again it keeps her busy and sometimes I hear her in fits of giggles. The train set is very cute and versatile and its great as children such as mine can have hours of fun with it especially if they fancy a change of toy than this is ideal.
My little one has had her one now for almost 5 months ...

Advantages: Strong, brightly coloured, easily movable, fun toy Disadvantages: Expensive, not easy to get out of the box!
This was the one thing that my daughter wanted on a visit to our local adsa. It is currently in the argos catalogue for £9.79 but asda sold it for £7.97. I thought this was quite expensive but avoided a tantrum as I had a big shop to do and gave in. I tried to open it in the shop but it has so many wires attaching it to the packaging that I gave up and got the scissors out when I got home. Once we got it out my daughter loved it. Although I agree ... ...for little hands. My daughter spent hours rolling around the floor with it, driving it through my legs and round other obstacles, laughing as she went. It comes in 3 pieces which unfortunately come apart really easily so I have glued them together. It is made of hard plastic and is really solid so can be thrown, dropped etc and survive. It is expensive but is built to last. ...
