This Isn't Mine - Who's Is It?
Believe it or not this Lightsaber is not mine! It is my little cousin's who is in love with Star Wars at the minute. He has always wanted a lightsaber sparked by him wanting to make his own one at Disneyland but it wasn't going to fit in our suitcases so i decided to buy him one when we got home - as promised! I got this one off eBay (brand new) which is something i loved because the service was very fast and efficient. He absolutely loved his lightsaber and now plays with it almost everyday, it is definitely one of the most played with toys in his house!
Swinging It Around? Is It Durable?
As seen in the TV shows the lightsaber is thrown in all directions and swung about so one of the most important things is the durability of this product! Despite reading a couple of reviews stating that this product is not durable, his lightsaber is very durable and is yet to be on the receiving end of any damage. The lightsaber is sometimes thrown on the floor and swung around, and it is still in perfect condition which is great especially as i paid quite alot of money for it. The extension pieces are still as slidy as they were when it first came and none have came out or became stiff, so the lightsaber is still in fantastic condition despite being played with. I do feel if it is given a massive wack it does have the ability to break, but that is not tested so im not sure! The glowing part of the lightsaber has not got any scratches or damage so that peice is durable as well. The colour of the lightsaber is exactly the same as what i came with. Overall the lightsaber is durable for him, and is still in fantastic condition, so therefore i have rated the durability as good, because i can see that it might break.
Packaging?
If you are looking for the lightsaber out and about or just want to know about the packaging this is how it is. The lightsaber comes safely packed in a bright, and animated box. It is covered from scenes from the film itself (Star Wars) and text. You can tell it is a official product by the massive Star Wars logo, which can be found on the corner of the box. The box is bigger than I initially expected and is just under one metre in length which is quite big for a box! The box protects the Lightsaber well, and it couldn't be better!
Where Do Lightsabers Come From?
Lightsabers are the main source for weapons in the series of films by Star Wars. The Lightsabers are the very well known weapons of the Jedi in the films. They are used in the films to delect beams aimed at them, and also for defence when in combat. The lightsabers are one of the most known weapons in films! They are great, and in stores they come in different colours, this Lightsbaer which i am reviewing is in a red colour. Lightsabers to my knowledge have appeared in all Star Wars films, so they are definitely a great thing to have!
What Does It Look Like?
As of all the Lightsabers, they have the very distinctive metal bottom to the Lightsaber which consists of various different buttons which can be used to make affects.
When collapsed the Lightsaber is around 20cm in length, and then once swung the Lightsaber extends to about one metre and reveals a bright red body! If you have saw a Lightsaber before it is exactly like that! They are great to use, and the design works really well, and is just like the original design of a Lightsaber.
Who Is The Lightsaber Suitable For?
I have purchased this Lightsaber for my cousin who has just turned eight, and i believe this is the right age for the Lightsabers. I don't think the lightsaber would be good for ages below that because obviously it can be swung around and is quite long? The lightsaber is great for that age band, and he has had lots of fun with it. The Lightsaber is great for 8+ in my eyes, but obviously it is your decision on what you think! The lightsaber is great for role play acitivities or fancy dress! Overall i think that Lightsaber has quite a large age boundry but is not for those who are quite young!
Does It Get Played With?
You don't really want to go out spend quite a bit on a toy like this and then it doesn't get played with. He has had this Lightsaber since July when we got back from our holidays and he still plays with so i am very happy with my purchase! It is great because he loves playing on his own swinging it around, dressed up as a Jedi! It is great! The sound effects are realistic as well! The Lightsaber is barely ever in the cupboard so the amount he played with it is great! If it was to break or he wanted a new one i definitely would not hesititate buying another because it does get played with alot!
Quality?
The quality of the Lightsaber is great. Firstly, the sound quality of the Lightsaber is amazing. The sounds which comes out of the Lightsaber are really realistic, and sound just like they do in the movie. The sound is clear, and is just the right volume which is good because it can't be changed. The sounds can be made by pressing the buttons on the handle or swinging it around. The quality of the movement extension is also great, with one swing the Lightsaber extends but not that easy that it falls out all of the time so the force needed is just correct. The handle i have been told is very comfy and easy to use when you are pressing the buttons. However, the light in the Lightsaber isn't that bright unless you are using it in the dark or not that light conditions.
Where Do I Buy This Lightsaber?
I personally bought mine of ebay as a one off, for around the price of £30 which is great for what i got, although I can't find anymore of them on there. There are some on Amazon for £39 which is quite a bit more than what i paid, but still quite a good price for what you get, the link will be posted below this section. There is also a very similar one at Woolworths for £35 reduced from £40 but it isn't the same. Overall the Lightsaber is great to use, and my cousin has had alot of use out of it which is great. The Lightsabers sounds are great quality, and it works really well. I would not hesititate in buying another at all. He loves it! I asked what he thought of it and he said; "its wicked!" which tells you alot! I would recommend this to anyone who asked me!
