Hastings Direct

My sister had an accident about a month ago when a car pulled out from a side road and hit her in the side.The third party immediately admitted liability and was very sorry,(my sister had her 6 mth old son in the back).That evening the lady in question turned up with her husband to look at the damage and started backtracking.Through conversation they admitted that they had knocked on every door around the crash site but could find no witnesses.
After contacting Hastings Direct and waiting a week they called her and offered her a curtesy car(this i thought was excellent as she is only tpft).They phoned the following week after the assessor had been to say they had written the car off and offered £810.My sister who is a single parent said yes and was very pleased.
All good so far,They collected my sisters car the following week and said the cheque was to follow.
She received a letter today saying the third party had a witness and as such they admitted liability on my sisters behalf and paid out.
So my sister now has no car and no money to replace it.I was absolutely fuming and called Hastings on her behalf,I was told that as soon as they produced a witness it was case closed,even though no witness was present and this witness appeared three weeks after the accident.Now this is clearly a fraudulent witness as the third party admitted no witness could be found.
My argument was basically any one who had an accident could magically conjure up a "witness" and the insurance company would fold and give in.
Thankfully we have a witness who was party to the conversation when they admitted they could not find a witness so are waiting a response from Hastings on where they go from here.
