    WHY BUY A TV AND A FREEVIEW BOX WHEN YOU CAN USE YOUR PC I didn't have a tv in my room since there wasn't any room for even a small one. I thought how would I be able to view TV in my room. Buying a Flat Screen TV (which probably is the only TV that would have fit into my small room) would have cost my A LOT of money that I didn't have. I also would have had to buy a FREEVIEW Box.. More money expenses. Having searched on the INTERNET I came across many different TV PCI Cards. I FINALLY came across the WinTV-HVR-1100 PCI Card.     I 1st installed this on a Vista machine with an Asus K8V SE motherboard The card was seemingly installed OK but after scan I could not receive any freeview channels, only analogue so I rang the help desk because the analogue system has no future. They said they have information that the card, for some inexplicable reason, does not work with some motherboards, something to do with power supply available they thought. So I tried every PCI slot on that machine then moved to another PC with a Winfast motherboard and XP professional. Tried every slot on that - still no joy. After several phone ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages WinTV sucks, Channels numberrs not ordered up, EPG sucks, No Teletext

    If you are like me and want to watch TV whilst doing stuff on your PC, this is the card for you. It takes up one PCI slot (do check if you have a spare slot as new motherboards don't include many spares one) The (Freeview) picture quality is "SUPERB" on this card and you will not regret. However, the software (WinTV2000) is a big let down. Forget the snazyy photosnaps on Hauppague's web site that is just marketing. The software is awful. I have tried and downloaded other software, but either it does not support the card or it is crap. And I have been waiting for 1+ year for a decent update ... more
