I purchased this because wanted to connect to my camcorder and save images on pc. I thought having the tv and radio was a bonus. First of I thought I had a faulty product as it just wouldn't install on my pc. I even had an exchange at shop but same problem. Contacted Hauppauge help and was givin a very complicated set of instructions to alter preferances in pc registry inorder to load program. I perserved and did get the intallation loaded. It is diffenatly not for a novice even with Hauppauges helpline. The tv only recieves basic stations it will not recieve freeview. The radio is fine. My feeling this is not a good purchase and I would advise not to buy. The Win Tv plugs into a usb port. Its marketed as a personal video recorder. Once you get the program installed the basic tv and radio reception is good. You have a virtual radio and a seperate tv on your pc. It does connect to my cam either by S-video link or composite video in. That is the only reason I kept it! There is only a normal rf aeriel socket to recieve tv reception on this model. Also it has a remote control. Don't get your hopes up though sometimes this needs to be re-installed to work. I must say one good point Hauppauge help was expert I can only guess they had a lot of practice!!!!

...on the internet cheaper than this. I have seen it on one site for £80+ pounds sterling, with returned units being sold from around from £60+.
Considering the Video Capture unit I was about to buy would have cost me £80, and my existing internal TV card cost me around £30 a few years ago, I did feel it was a reasonable purchase.
I have to say I am impressed with the quality of TV image I receive, it is far superior to what I have been used to from my existing internal card, and I now have an encoder to allow me to capture my old camcorder videos too.
The unit is made by Hauppauge and is called WinTV, PVR2, personal video recorder.

...When my dad first suggested turning our computer into a full computer/TV/radio system I was intrigued to say the least - to me they sounded like a match made in heaven!! So when he came home holding the hardware required to do this I was delighted! WinTV-PVR USB2 is an excellent invention, allowing you to turn your PC into a Digital TV recorder. The box itself is about 16cm x 14cm and comes with its own stand and remote control.
There are many things to do with WinTV-PVR USB2. Firstly, and most obviously, it allows you to watch TV while on your computer. You can watch it in any sized widow including a full screen version and are able to set it to 'Always On Top Mode' allowing you to view the TV while doing other things like browsing the internet at the same time. ...NOTE: I used the bundled software briefly before switching to various PVR applications, so I cannot comment much on the Hauppauge software.
This review is also VERY TECHNICAL and not for the novice computer user.
The HauppaugePVR-350 card (model 993) is one of the top of the range Analog TV capture cards available. This card also has video out - making it ideal for systems with no built-in s-video output.
I paid £105 including delivery for this card and at the time got a free copy of The Return of the King DVD (mail-in voucher).
I have installed the PVR-350 card in an old Dell Optiplex 110 Pentium III 800MHz machine that I was given, as I decided that I wanted to build a DVR - Digital Video Recorder, or PVR - Personal Video Recorder.
