The Hawking HKS2AU 2-Port USB PS/2 KVM Switch enables quick and easy control over two computers through a single console (keyboard, mouse, and monitor) while offering you an uninterrupted multimedia experience. It allows you to share the same keyboard, mouse, monitor, as well as, speakers and microphone. The HKS2AU comes with both USB and PS/2 ports for optional USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse connections. When the built-in USB ports are not occupied by the keyboard or mouse, you can utilize the ports to share with other USB devices. Selecting your PC and USB device is as easy as pushing a button in the front or through keyboard hotkeys. The HKS2AU comes with LED indicators for easy status monitoring. Better yet, the installation procedure is Plug-and-Play, in another words, no configuration is needed. With control over two PCs and easy to use features, the HKS2AU is truly a great KVM switching solution for home and office users.
Advantages: Cheap, all in one solution, audio support Disadvantages: No manual overide
...of leads in to each PC. The F1DL102P has PS/2 leads for the keyboard and mouse but a USB version is also available. The audio support is limited to a single stereo jack and microphone input but given the market this is aimed at, I can't really see the lack of multi-channel audio support to be a problem.
The monitor, keyboard and mouse are then connected to the KVM to complete the set up. One bugbear is that like the vast majority of KVMs, this Belkin unit has cables going in one end and out the other making it difficult to place on a desktop without having cables hanging out everywhere. However, there is no reason why you can't just tuck it out the way out of sight as it has no parts you'd normally need to access. The leads were of a generous length allowing some room to manoeuvre on PC placement.

...has USB connections for the keyboard and mouse although Belkin do a range of KVM's so you can probably find a PS/2 equivelent if you have that sort of mouse/keyboard. The PS/2 models also include PS/2->USB adaptors so you'll also need those if you have a USB mouse and PS/2 keyboard. This particular model has no support for audio so if you need to also have your microphone and speakers switch from PC to PC, look elsewhere.

Advantages: easdy to use,USB connections,up to 4 pc's Disadvantages: not pretty,
...two).Switching between pc's is just a keystoke and its quite strange at first to instantly move between one display/audio/input and another.
This belkin switch is a big improvement on previous models but beware when buying, several Belkin KVM's have almost the same model numbers and names, make sure you get the USB model, as usual with Belkin old models hang around for ages especially when buying on line and you can easy end up with an old ps2 model some dealer is trying to off load to make way for the new style. This is not helped by the price structure,an old style switch can often come up at a hight price than the new one so take care.
Bottom line is,as usual with Belkin the product will do what is says it will and in this case better than before,if you use more than one pc on a regular basis then this is a must have...
