Hays known more widely as Hays Montrose are another recruiting agency of the many available although Hays are possibly the biggest as they are working internationally and are currently extremely diverse.
Hays Montrose – Background : ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Formed in the 60’s and then expanding to a more diverse workforce in the 80’s, Hays have been round for such a long time which goes to show they are successful. In the mid 90’s, I was out bopping away to my old skool love while Hays were expanding across the country and the world.
Hays are now recognized as a global working company recruiting thousands across the UK as well as the many others working throughout countries such as France, Germany, Sweden, Portugal and South Africa included.
But more importantly the UK coverage is outstanding, with 220 offices placed around the country, Hays are available to most of the regions and therefore not only help the economy through providing employers with temporary employee’s but also help to bring work for the people looking for assured and instant work.
Hays have become a diverse company to work for as they currently provide for clients in the following industries :
So whatever your trade, skill or choice Hays welcome everybody into working for a satisfied and sometimes negotiable pay. More importantly compared to other recruitment agencies this just goes to show that they have a wide range of employers working alongside them so they have respect, trust and reliability among Britains working industries.
Hays Montrose – Working For Hays : ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The Pay ~ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Pay is paid mainly by the hour depending on the industry and choice of work you choose. Working for my local office in Southampton I was able to negotiate my last hourly pay and accepted £6ph as a basic wage.
Sometimes jobs will pay £5ph at the very least and more averagely the hourly pay ranges from £5.50ph - £7ph. If you work a practical trade such as Scaffolding, Construction, Labouring then your guaranteed to be set an hourly wage although these are mostly negotiable.
Working in a Financial sector such as Accountancy, Banking & Executive roles then you’ll be on a fixed annual pay split by the time of the contract. Some contracts will run for a year and possibly even the 2 although being a recruitment agency temporary recruitment is the most offered.
Throughout all areas of work you receive time-sheets which must be filled in and signed by your Supervisor or person in charge at the site of where you work. Once time-sheets are fully done with all necessary parts completed, you are then required to hand in or send the time-sheet to your local office so that on the following Monday you are put on the payroll and wages are paid into banks or cheques sent out on the Wednesday.
I have been paid with satisfaction most of the time bar a problem once when for some still unknown reason they made me wait 2 weeks for a wage payment and I was told again and again that I would be paid but the dates given to me would not for fill what they said and I was still unpaid. Eventually I did receive the payment and was quite happy with the service and response from my consultant at the office.
Though compared with other agencies I’d rate this fairly high for pay because I have been with many agencies who have much more trouble with the payroll. The only one bad thing I find here is that although the rates are good the holiday pay recruitment agencies have to pay now being a percentage of your rate is actually included in the rate here. Where as other agencies add this on to the final wage multiplying it by the hours you worked so this is a small downfall for Hays.
Amount of Work Available ~ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well obviously there’s always work available as the range of jobs are extremely diverse and therefore whatever your skill your able to find some work out there with Hays.
Although they always seem to have jobs going especially in my chosen industry – Construction. Yes girls, I’m a builder but without the hand and spanner scratching at my backside though your quite welcome to come and give a scratch anytime!
When I lost my last job through not making enough sales I needed work immediately and gave them a call the very next day. Now luckily I was a previously reliable worker and they got me working at the Boat Show in Southampton which is now open. They do keep records on performance, where you work, pay and reliability keeping comments on record too. Hays do not give recruits more than few chances to those who fail to return to work or even start work with a client or who has somewhat of a bad attitude to working.
Hays have a lot of respect and trust so it’s obvioulsy very important not to let down their clients which to be fair is something that shouldn’t happen anyway if your actually wanting to work. If you work hard and become a reliable recruit then you are guaranteed to have instant work laid down for you whatever the contract, time of year and situation.Keeping Me Informed ~ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is where I rate Hays Montrose so highly against other recruiting agencies. When you Join they ask you for a mobile number, give them that without hesitation. One way they keep you informed of work vacancies and job offers is by text. I have for the last 3 months received at least one text each day informing me of a job and a contact number and name.
Living in the Southern region means I will get text from offices in Reading, Portsmouth, Woking, Brighton, Winchester and of course Southampton. So if you drive like me then your able to take a job at any time drive there and earn your cash.
To those of you without a mobile phone – get one! But don’t despair ripping out all of your hair, Hays will send out letters to home addresses from time to time offering you only a contract for a certain job. If you take this job they then send out another letter containing information such as where to go, who to contact, head office contact and salary/hourly pay.
They don’t always phone as their time on the phones are taken up mainly with providing clients and employers with information along with actually providing them with the workers. All of the agencies I’ve known (and yes I’ve got around) have always expected you to phone daily for jobs but here is the only agency I know to text you and send you letters regarding vacancies and job offers and this is an excellent service which really works.
Hays Montrose - Conclusion ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hays are far by the best agency I know of and have worked for in Southampton. Although this doesn’t prove this is the same round the country it does show you how they work. Remember that you are actually working on site with an employer you may never heard of but you are actually working for an agency so it’s Hays that control how much you get to work and the contracts they choose to offer you which can be anything from 3 days to 2yrs.
Their way of setting pay is by far the best too considering sometimes you are given the option to negotiate your rate and salary. Receiving your wages is fairly efficient, not totally reliable but still remain much better compared with other agencies.
They keep you completely informed, up-to-date with the current standings and vacancies on offer and the consultants do work hard to give you all the information needed to make a decision on whether to take the job or contract. Sometimes I’ve known for consultant to say they’ll phone back but didn’t and it was down to me to get the job sorted. Although this may be looked on as a downfall you do have to respect that each one can be handling up to 20 different recruits in one week as well as the clients they deal with.
All in all Hays to me are far by the best Agency in the South and therefore proves that they work in an organized and efficient way making sure their process results in us recruits working and them making their money.
Final say – Don’t rely fully on agencies as they still have their problems from time to time, it’s far better to work for a employer directly giving you a guaranteed wage and a possible career path for promotion and higher pay.
