Owned by: KKR New York Equity Firm and Stefano Pessina From July 1st 2009, shamed ex-banker Andrew Hornsby will take over as CEO of Alliance Boots. eek! am I the only one who is not in love with lush??
Advantages: good staff who have a good knowledge base Disadvantages: smell, rustic, expensive, palm oil and soduim laurel sulfate
...of though I would like lush but I just don't The shop itself looks lovely, it looks like a sweetie shop and you just want to go in but the smell really hits you big time, it's so overpowering and then when you start to look at the products the whole places IMO starts to look a little bit rustic and more homemade than I like, I don't mind homemade but I don't want things that look like my kids have made them so, I have been to the shop and the girls ... ...I have spent hours in lush looking at all the stuff, smelling it all and looking at the ingredients - what I was surprised at was they they still use sodium laurel sulfate - this is a product that they don't need to use and they can use other foaming agents, I also didn't like the fact that they used palm oil, however, this may have changed as it's now such a no no to use, shame they didn't lead the way in not using this product. I have bought products ...

Poor customer service at every branch I have been to
Advantages: Thorough eye tests Disadvantages: Poor customer service, frames and contact lenses are usually cheaper elsewhere
I was a customer with D&A at 3 different branches (Barkingside, Hackney and Coventry) over a 7 year period and unfortunately I have to say that the customer service at all of them was poor. The company must have forgotten to include anything about listening to customers' needs in its staff training because they tried to sell me frames that were not suitable for me (shape and size) simply because they were part of one of their promotions such as 'buy ... ...to wait for a long time to be served by staff on my visits and my overall impression about them was that they did not really care about their jobs. In addition to this, they lost my records when I moved address and asked for them to be transferred from my old branch to a new one. The eye tests they provide are very thorough though and good value if you use the 50% off voucher on their website when available and that was the only reason I remained ...

Looking To The Future With Clear Vision. (Vision Express)
Advantages: Make you feel special and ensure you are happy with your eyewear. Disadvantages: More expensive than some other high street opticians.
...have been a customer with Vision Express for many years now, probably more than 10, and I think I know a fair amount about their service and their standards. I am a contact lens wearer which means I visit regularly both for sight tests every 2 years and for contact lens check ups annually. The store where I live in Chelmsford is bright and airy, and every time I have been there I have found it to be welcoming and friendly, and also extremely professional. ... ...you come out with perfect vision with your new glasses, as I never feel I am giving them a consistent story! Choosing the right style of glasses in my branch is always made so much more achievable as the staff in there really go out of their way to help. Last time I needed updated glasses, and as I have a small face I can't wear many styles at all. I was assisted by an extremely helpful assistant who was so patient with me, and explained that the ...

Saving The Pennies!
Advantages: Some Cheap Products Disadvantages: Long Queues, Poor Staff Knowledge
There has been a Savers Shop in Sheffield City Centre where I live for a few years now but it is only recently that I have started to call in there. I have usually bought my Toiletries from Wilkinson's which is located quite close by and I first called into Savers when I couldn't get all of my usual products from Wilkinsons one day and I was immediately impressed with some of their offers.
The Savers chain was founded back in 1988 and until 1996 ... ...name has been changed to Savers Health & Beauty and their product range expanded. These Stores expanded rapidly up to 2000 when the Company was acquired by A.S. Watson. This new Parent Company implemented aggressive marketing techniques setting out to undercut similar longer established chains like Superdrug. This aggressiveness within the market place has obviously paid off because today Saver's currently operate over 450 Stores in the UK. These ...
