Advantages: Very easy to get an accurate temperature.
Disadvantages: Large and bulky

...not accurate. However, with the Braun 4520 which is an ear thermometer and not underarm thermometer, I can get a very accurate temperature within seconds. Although it is not the smallest or lightest of things, it is worth having because of its ease of use.
