Advantages: Easy access, good, wide range of courses Disadvantages: has a not so good reputation, just because it is in the city of bradford
...Bradford University is one of the best Universities in Great Britain and ofers a wide range of courses to choose from. It is easy to get to too, seing as most departments at Bradford are on the main campus, just ten minutes' walk from the city centre. The Library, the Computer Centre, the Sports Centre, the Students' Union, the Theatre, the self-catering halls of residence and virtually everything else you need is all on one campus. The School of HealthStudies with its newly built facilities, is just half a mile away, close to a local hospital, and the Management Centre situated on a self-contained, scenic parkland site, is only two miles away. This is definately worth a try and has a brilliant record as well as all the easy access etc....

Advantages: Supportive of students Disadvantages: Teething problems with new courses, receptionists are quite rude at times.
...Interested in Nursing? QUB offer an extensive range of nursing courses, whether it be initial training courses, or those to further your development, such as shortened speciality courses for those already qualified.
Initially you may apply for the diploma programme, which can then be topped up to a degree (B Nur), or you can choose to take that on at a later date. You can decide to top up to the degree at the start of the third year of training. Whether you will be advised to continue with the degree will be based on how your tutors feel that you are getting on. I have found that many people have opted out of the degree, and will take it on at a later date. The degree available at QUB for those that decide to wait a while is a BSc in HealthStudies. Alternatively you may opt for a community degree, which in today's climate of caring...

Advantages: Low grades required, excellent city Disadvantages: Poor IT lecturers, lack of information for students
...was run down because of stress, she got the extension. Marks also seem to vary depending on how much the lecturer likes you, I know people who have handed in virtually identical assignments and got wildly different marks with no explanation.
On the other hand, my girlfriend is at city campus and she loves the place. Her faculty (healthstudies) send out information in the post when it's needed, have approachable staff members and generally treat the students like equals. They bend over backwards to help, indeed her head of faculty intervened on my behalf when mine refused to authorise me for a student loan as I had an hour a week less than everyone else. I would say that the Met is an average university for computing, but good for other things, and it's situated in an excellent vibrant city. Make your own mind up!...

Advantages: Increased social awareness Disadvantages: Shortage of time
...I began this course in February 2004 whilst also studying a year two course, also worth 60 points. To study 120 points during one academic year is difficult and requires that the study materials are both interesting and user friendly.
The K100 materials fit the bill in this regard. As a student who has returned to study after MANY years away, I needed that K100 provided me with a clear structure for study.
The study materials take you on a journey through every element of health and social care - looking at formal and informal carers, where care takes place, right through to how domestic laws affecting policies have altered over the decades. You are also given an indepth view of how the NHS was born and how primary, secondary and tertiary health care provisions have changed over time.
K100 is a very worthwhile course to anyone who...

Advantages: Study at times suitable to you Disadvantages: self motivation to study
...I have just started my course on Health and Social Care and so far the study material has been very easy to follow, especially for someone like myself who has not studied in years! Everything you need to do over the weeks and months is all mapped out for you, and all you as the student has to do is organise your time. I like the idea of having a local tutor, and that you have access to your tutors email address in case you need help at anytime during the course. I think this is a great way to study and the fact you can take your time to earn your degree is important if like me you run a household and work full time. Some of the courses are very expensive, but you do have the option of paying them off. I started an online study with a different university and found it to be very poor where student contact was concerned and you had to feel...

Advantages: interesting course, lots to do, nice and helpful staff Disadvantages:
...I am one the few people, who have been able to do a 2 year PGCE in Secondary Education: mathematics, as very few universities still have it running. However, i think the idea of the course in great. You have 1 year of learning more about your chosen subject, i.e. maths, and then the second year is also teaching based modules, which consist of studying and placements. I have also found the education dept very helpful, and it is situated out with the town centre campus, and is great on a sunny day, for studying outside, it also has an new library recently opened, and it is primarily meant for people studying sport courses, education, health etc. Therefore it is never too full, like the one in the centre can be.
Thus far, I have found my course a jot to study, and the staff at Northumbria very helpful....
