Advantages: A very thorough, honest look at his life and career Disadvantages: Becomes a Little too religious towards the end, but not too much of a bad point
I've been a big fan of WWE wrestling ever since we first got cable TV at home back in the early 90's. He was one of the first wrestlers I really started to support, even though he was being portrayed as one of the bad guys, or heels as he refers ... ...his autobiography I decided to borrow it off her and give it a read. I had heard that a couple of the wrestling books in previous years had been pretty good but this was actually the first one I'd gotten round to reading. The book looks at a number of aspects, from Shawn's early life, through his career to date and also how his personal life was going throughout. Advantages: Good, easy read for any HBK fan! Disadvantages: Would have liked more details in places.
Shawn Michaels to me is God. People laugh when I say that but, to be fair, it's true. He wrestled in the first match up that I ever saw; himself vs Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 12 in the infamous, first ever Iron Man Match. I have to say from then on, I was instantly hooked. Shawn to me performed like no one I'd ever seen before; he was purely amazing to watch. Entertaining the fans seemed to be the only thing on his mind. I liberally jumped to from ... ...engrossed by then!) when he hit his finishing move on the *Hitman for the 1, 2, 3! For a 6 year old to be that enthralled by a man in spandex is unhealthy, so I've been told!
By the time 'Heartbreak and Triumph' was released, I couldn't stand the wait. It had been nearly 10 long years for me waiting for that book and I honestly didn't want to put it down until I'd read it all!
So, did it reach my expectations?
