I love celebrities and I love celebrity gossip and what better magazine is there to buy than Heat?
Launched in 1999 Heat has become quite a phenomenon with the UK eventually after numerous re-launches and in 2004 it was one of the biggest selling magazines in the UK.
Every Tuesday morning my copy of Heat is dropped through my letterbox by my grungy looking paperboy and I rather excitedly drop it in my bag to read on my way to work whilst jostling with public transport to get there. Heat Magazine costs around £1.65 these days and for that money you can get 140 pages crammed pack full of tit-bits, gossip, fashion advice and disastrous photos, however if you are like me you can subscribe to heat for £72 per year and ensure you never miss a copy.
I first started buying this magazine a few years ago when I was obsessed with Big Brother and this magazine I always felt reviewed the series much better than some of the sleazy newspapers because the person who wrote the articles was clearly a Big Brother fan. I loved all the interviews with the housemates when they got rejected from the house and even though I have now grown bored of Big Brother I still buy the magazine.
Heat is essentially a celebrity gossip magazine mixed with a tabloid newspaper and their eye grabbing headlines, if it is out there and it is happening you can guarantee that those at Heat Towers know about it and are either interviewing someone about it or have got a story about it.
The front cover of Heat always has some major story drawing the eye immediately too it and in recent years they have had exclusive on Brad and Jen and Jen and Angelina and Angelina and Brad, David Beckham allegedly exposed for kissing someone and so on, it is usually someone within the media's eye and it is usually a big story.
In every issue you can read about which celebrity is sleeping with or breaking up with whom, there is usually a scandal or two thrown in and then there terrifying of pictures of celebrities without make-up looking awful and the readers being shown that they are human after all with a little bit of cellulite here and a pimple there, there is also information on the diets famous people like to follow which often results in a feature of which female star is a fan of which diet and how successful it is for them, one of the strangest being the baby food diet in which celebrities just eat baby food to loose a few extra pounds.
For the more serious side of heat there is Torso of the week in which someone deemed to be 'hot' is posed topless and then we have book reviews in which new books are reviewed and given a rating, DVD ratings are given to films which have just made it to DVD, Film reviews and music reviews which consist of albums and singles. When each of them is reviewed the star rating indicates to the reader which one Heat believes to be 'Single of the Week' or 'Book of the week' and so on. Some of the reviews written do give a very good overview of that said product and I have bought numerous books and CD's from reading the reviews in this magazine.
You will also find Horoscopes within this magazine and more often than not a Crossword to win a television and DVD or something along those lines which contains cryptic clues and then inside the back cover as well as your usual adverts for mobile phone ringtones, games and the likes there is a 'Say What' section which features some catty quotes from celebrities which have been witnessed by people and some of them are really funny.
My favourite section of the magazine is 'Spotted' in which people write in or email Heat Towers or staff who work for Heat report which Celebrities they have seen and where they have seen them and living in London it is amazing how many famous people shop in my local shops, not that I have ever seen any of them.
On the whole I love Heat magazine and definitely prefer it to Hello and OK because I feel I get more for my money and I like the writing style within this magazine and the sense of humour those who work for Heat have and there is a serious side to the celebrity gossip too.
Advantages: TV Guide Disadvantages: All pictures, few words
...colleague left a copy of Heat magazine lying around, and I couldn't resist having a read of it!
Heat magazine is a celebrity gossip magazine, which also includes fashion pages and a TV Guide. It comes out weekly -on a Tuesday I believe although I'm not entirely sure, and will set you back £1.65, which I think is a lot for a weekly (and one of the reasons I didn't buy it all that often, when I was still buying magazines).
The cover of the issue ... ...~Conclusion~
I think Heat magazine is probably one of the best known and most read celebrity magazines, but I really don't see why, as it is not one of my favourites. On the plus side though, as Heat is a weekly publication then the stories are pretty up to date, and at 138 pages, you do get more for your money than most weeklies (even though this one is mostly pictures). I also like the fact that it has a TV Guide included with it.

Advantages: Great celebrity gossip... Disadvantages: You could be doing something meaningful...
...have been known to buy Heat magazine. In fact, that’s not true, because nobody DOES know that I buy it. I generally sneak this £1.45 weekly purchase into a coffee shop for half-time in one of my epic solitary spending sprees and then strategically leave it behind on my table having read it from cover to cover!
So why am I so shame-faced? Well, perhaps the tag-line will help explain…”This week’s hottest celebrity news”: ... ...a Heataholic.”
******************************************************
Heat magazine pretty much always follows the same format, and lucky for them there are always some darn-fool celebrities doing god-awful things to provide ample photos to fill their pages.
So flicking through this weeks copy (yes I’ve sneaked it home: but nobody else is in!) what do we have, well:
The first page is always an editorial, this one is about how lots ...

Heat magazine.......
I have to admit it, although rather ashamed to, but I love a bit of trashy celebrity gossip on a regular basis. I find reading about the lives of people who get paid to be under the spotlight sometimes rather uplifting and as my friends are mostly into the same things as me it gives us something else to chat mindlessly about that isn't work or children!
Heat magazine is, I find, the best celebrity magazine available although ... ...that bit extra for. Heat costs £1.65pence which is more than Closer which costs £1.30pence and Star that is sold at the bargain price of 65pence (not that I have gone out this evening and splashed out on all three magazines or anything!!!)
The cover of this weeks Heat (a new one comes out every 7 days) shows, as most magazines do lately, several celebrities wearing only bikinis and the cover title is “Beach Bodies! What do men secretly prefer!” ...

Advantages: Very amusing, keep up to date with what's going on Disadvantages: Having to get caught up in the whole 'skinny vs curvy' debate
...magazines to choose from but Heat magazine is, arguably, the best!
What is it?
--------------
Heat is a British entertainment magazine providing readers with a weekly dose of the latest celebrity news and gossip. It was launched in 1999 and, with high profile celebriities (such as footballers and their WAGS, film stars and reality TV stars) appearing on its pages week after week, Heat soon became a popular choice. Sales have grown from 60,000 ... ...opinion, Heat gives a 'tongue-in-cheek' look at the celebrity culture and gives the readers what they want - mostly pictures of celebs at their worst when they think nobody is looking!
Who is it for?
-----------------
In my opinion Heat is aimed at women but I know plenty of men who read it too. (There are probably many more 'closet' fans than we are aware of!) It is supposed to be aimed at all ages but I would say it's most popular with 15-35 ...

Advantages: humorous, lots of celebrity gossip, plenty of photographs, excellent TV guide Disadvantages: Lack of 'meaningful' articles
I look forward to Tuesdays as it is the day 'Heat' magazine comes out! I buy it religiously every week just dying to get my fix of celebrity gossip. I have been buying this magazine for about 6 years now and it is definitely one of the leading magazines in it's field, even mentioned on TV shows like 'Extras' where Les Dennis is so desperate to get his name in the 'Spotted' section that he rings the magazine himself!
'Heat' is currently priced at ... ...competitors prices range from just under £1.00 to £2.00 and having read some of these other magazines, I believe that you get more for your money with 'Heat' magazine.
FRONT COVER
This week's front cover is colourful and attractive as always. It features photographs from Coleen's 21st birthday party, Simon Cowell's 'world exclusive' on Dermot O'Leary being the new host of X-Factor and some photographs of skinny celebrities with 'bellies' (hmmm.....!!!)

Advantages: Full of gossip, cheap, it's weekly, lots of promotions Disadvantages: None
...Heat is a weekly gossip magazine, costing £1.45, I think mainly directed towards females of the younger generation, but even male pensioners would be partial to this! My friend's 90 year-old great grandmother has a subscription to this and reads it from cover to cover religiously, so there you go, very versatile and people of all ages love it!
There are many other celebrity entertainment magazines out there: OK, Hello, Now, Closer, Sneak, etc, so what makes Heat stand out? I'll tell you what's wrong with all the other mags:
-OK treats celebrities like they're God and completely arse-lick them.
-Now is too mumsy, and the interviews with celebrities featured are usually from Emmerdale or something.
-Sneak - what's with the Gareth Gates obsession?
-Closer I've never tried, so this might be as good, but I doubt it!
Heat is a nice...

Advantages: All the latest gossip and tv listings Disadvantages: none
...Ok, I admit it, I'm a gossip-oholic and very week I buy Heatmagazine for my fix. It's published weekly and is usually available on a Tuesday from most supermarkets and newsagents and costs £1.45.
The first page with the contents always has a section called 'Everyone's talking about...' which usually sums up the main celebrity gossip story that's going around. This week's (issue 213) is about the breakup of Steve McFadden and Lucy Benjamin (from Eastenders for those who've never heard of them).
The first part of the magazine is usually full of the main celebrity gossip from the previous week. This week the stories centre around the Oscars: Nicole Kidman's weepy acceptance speech, the dresses, and the aftershow parties. There are also articles titled 'Hot off the press!' which this week shows pictures of Cheryl Tweedy (from Girls...

Advantages: Its Cheap ! Disadvantages: Only Come Out Once A Week !
...My first choice of a magazine wouldnt of been heat it proberly would of been something like OK magazine whice is a good magazine two.
But the cover on heat and the adverts makes you want to buy it because if you want to know what is going on in the world of the celebrities and true stories like my babie has 8 arms and legs then you would of chose this because it appelles to everybody.
The price of heat is very reasonable for such a thick and long magazine its £1.65 and you can find it in almost any shop you go in, Which is good!!
The only disadvantage i would say is that it only comes out once a week i think.
But overall its a great cheap and exciting so my advice is to get to the shops and buy it!...
