The question is, why buy this when afterburner and ace combat are firmly established at the undisputed rulers of the skies?

Adjusting the in-flight experience to be either sim-like or arcadey is a nifty idea, but the handling recalls afterburner rather than flight simulator x whatever you pick. Your weaponary never runs out of ammo and you can take more hits than rocky balboa before your craft plummets towards the waves. Mind you, with the sheer volume of enemy craft constantly bludgeoning you from all angles, it's hardly a bad thing....
Dogfights and bombing runs are undeniably fun - anf if you don't whoop with glee after dodging a locked-on missile before replying with a deadly storm of lead then there's something very wrong with you - but heatseeker runs out of ideas all too quickly and blowing your millionth identikit enemy out of the heavens conjures more of a dull ache than adrenaline rush.
