Heinz baby food has been around for a long time. I have used many makes of baby food but have found that althoughs Heinz give a great choice in baby food and a wide variety.
The variety of food that you get are glass jars, tins, packets of dried food and also recently added are like little tubs with platic lids which you could keep and re use. They also have an organic range which comes under heinz but the normal unorganic packets are under the name of Farley's like the milk.
The variety's you can get from 4 months, are breakfast, like porridge or apricot and strawberry breakfast which are dried packets which you then add your babies usual milk too. For a savoury meal you can have, garden vegetables with chicken or a vegetarian choice can be carrots with parsnips. For a pudding you can have fruits like apple or apple and banana, apricot custard, or a great favourite with my daughter was chocolate pudding.
If you happen to have a baby like my son you can go on to the tinytums website which is run by heinz and go to diet choices and it can help you find which foods would be suitable for your child's requirements. As my son has a milk intolerance I used the site to find out which products were milk free and he would be able to have. Unfortunately this left me with a limited choice but he really enjoys the strawberry and apricot breaksfast cereal.
From 7 months the variets of food get even better. As a baby developes from eating mushy food they need more lumps and the Heinz 7 month jars are great for this. Still a bit mushy but nice lumps. This is when you can use Heinz First tomato soup and first spaghetti hoops, and also first beans, which are all baby varieties of the adult versions done by heinz. Things like Fruity Chicken rissoto and vegetable and chicken hotpot are available. For breakfast they can have peachy porridge, which is basically the same as the normal porridge but with bits of peach in it. Puddings don't seem to be widely available in bigger jars as at this point you start to give them finger foods too.
Heinz also do rusks which are an ideal first food if your baby doesn't like the baby rice, but be careful as you can buy gluten free and reduced sugar ones but they contain milk protein which doesn't help an intolerant baby. They also appear to be doing jars with food for babies who are 10 months or older. As I haven't tried these I cannot comment on them.
I sometimes think that too much lemon juice is added to their fruits making it quite sour compared to home made fruit! My son doesn't like them too much.
Overall, I have found the heinz jars to be very runny in their texture for 4 months and my son likes it thick. It also tends to run off the spoon very easily making it harder to feed. I am however very happy with their 7 month jars, as they are just right for a baby moving onto lumpier foods.
